Not really. There really isn't one movie that can define the internet generation. This is going to be that movie.

Re: The Social Network
this movie gives me the same feeling that "21" gave me. Talented kid (nerd) takes the unbeaten path, makes a lot of money, loses his virginity to a hot chick who wouldn't give them the time of day, makes friends/lose friends, gets in over his head, learns a lesson, it all works out in the end, throw in some wild parties and drug use montages, shake and stir: wham bam - the young boy has come of age.
We've all seen that formula a thousand times. Instead of hustling vegas they are creating a website. sorry I'll watch on DVD or FX sometime next year.
the trailer didn't really excite me, it only confirmed for me how straight forward and predictable the film will be. Actually the trailer made me feel as though they were trying to make the movie more **** than it really is, with the acapella choir and all.
having said that I enjoyed "21" when I finally saw it but it certainly was nothing to get my drawz all in a bunch about.
btw i love facebook, so no hate. however my facebook security is locked so tight that its basically twitter with pictures. Id on't let folks see me while or any tagged pictures. also rotten tomatoes reviews are written by tools. you will see so many varying opinions on the site that it invalidates itself. its a good source but not the "authority"Comment

Re: The Social Network
I'm semi-interested in this movie. I might wait til it comes out on DVD to pick it up. Every review I heard from online, to friends has been positive so I might check it out in theaters. I really don't know what I'm going to do here.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: The Social Network
I'm not sure this will be movie of the year, but it will be definitely awesome. It's got a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes so far with about 17 critics reviews in...I didn't, at all. But with such a horrible movie, it's not like you could really notice how bad he was. Wasn't the least bit convincing, that's his problem. He just seems like Justin Timberlake trying to act.
How is that fair? Just because the movie is facebook related? Understand that this film is going to go much deeper than Facebook. And it's coming from a highly talented director, while it was written by a highly talented writer.
Combine Fincher and Sorkin (I'm personally a huge Sorkin fan) so you know the writing and directing are gonna be great.
I've also read the book and it was a fun read. I know it's somewhat fictionalized, but no matter what the story was compelling.
Eisenberg looks perfect in this role, everything just seemed to click for this movie. I look forward to seeing it this weekend.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: The Social Network
No. Those are movies about computers and or internet. This film is about the internet age we live in now, where the majority of households have the internet, where it's considered an every day essential of life, where everyone you know has a Facebook account, etc.. Movies from the 90's can't possibly have the same to say on this subject.
Mostly, this has to do with what this internet age has done to the current youth culture, like college students and facebook. It should make for a very interesting commentary on the subject, given who's doing the film.
You have that aspect of it, and then the timeless themes of greed, love, betrayal, surrounding the main characters of the film. And with how amazing Zodiac was, for simply being a 2 and a half hour movie of dialog and facts thrown in your face, I assume we'll get a heavy dose of that here, too.Comment

Re: The Social Network
I like the look of the film. The acting and music were also good. The movie didn't live up to the hype though. I wouldn't call The Social Network boring but it wasn't really interesting either.
The film is in the B-/C+ range.Comment
