    Breaking Benjamin = Likely Done

Its not terribly surprising if true because they didn't get along very well as of late, but nothing "official" has been said yet

This sucks! I'm glad they at least got Dear Agony out before parting ways though.

I am surprised they lasted this long with Ben's issues.

The statements that the band is “on hiatus” are due to Ben’s camp hoping they can convince him to change his mind and return with new musicians later this year, so there is a chance this could be only temporary. It has been stated several times in the past that he is the only official member of Breaking Benjamin, and that the rest of the band were just hired musicians.
Part of me always hoped Ben was better than that, but oh well. At least I got to see them live 3 times.

And reading the article just confirmed my thought that Mark & Aaron would try a Lifer reunion. If they can actually get Nick Coyle to stick around, they may be able to combine a little of the momentum they had before BB w/ their names now to get the ball rolling

Wasn't a hardcore fan, but loved the CD with So Cold on it (which was a brilliant song) and liked Diary of Jane too.

Too bad, came thiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to seeing them couple years and didn't, kinda regret it now.

Unfortunate, but hopefully if it is the end all the guys in this band can grow a bit musically; their sound didn't really evolve at all over the course of their three albums, IMO, and I got a bit tired of them as the tone of their albums became increasingly more negative. Couldn't really get into "Dear Agony" at all.

I still listen to "We Are Not Alone" fairly frequently, though.

I'll live. I like a few of their songs but its not a band I'll really miss.

I cannot stand this whole "mall metal" genre, but they were one of the ones I actually liked a little bit.

Damn, loved these guys. I thought Dear Agony was their best CD.

But can someone explain that one quote please? The one where he said he was the only "official" member. Doesn't that mean that the guys who recorded, and toured, were just hired and were possibly different guys? If that is correct, how is this a break up? Couldn't Ben just keep doing it that way/his way?

And as expected, Ben has come out and released a statement saying that BB isn't done. Although he only mentions that "he" is on a touring hiatus, which falls in nicely with the "he is the only member of the band" idea.

Well, he is the voice of the band.

Either way, I hope he finds new members and the "band" doesn't miss a beat. I'll be pissed if he call it quits altogether.

And this kind of squashes the idea of releasing a couple of acoustic versions of Dear Agony's songs. I was hoping Dear Agony or Without You would get an acoustic release like Diary Of Jane did.

I own acoustic versions of Without You and Give Me a Sign...

(they aren't real acoustic versions, but rather studio-created where they drop the other instruments and backup vocals, but they sound great).
