model numbers? are they both 2010 models?

      a 22" LCD HDTV is around a $250-300 value. Not a bad throw-in.

Re: help in buying TV please.....

        here are my 3 choices:

        1) Sony : http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-t...?tag=mncol;lst

        2) Samsung: http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-t...?tag=mncol;lst

        3) Sharp: http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-t...?tag=mncol;lst

all 46 inches....Sharp and Sony same price but the sharp deal will get me an extra 22 inch LCD , both are 120 Hz.

The Samsung is 200 dollars cheaper, 60 Hz.....

there is also a 46 inch Sharp 60 hZ 125 dollars cheaper then both the 120 HZ TVs i mentioned above

I mention the 60 hz TVs because it seems some people prefer the lower refresh rate for cinema picture look on movies....whatcha think?

This TV's use will concentrate on NHL hockey, UFC fights, NFL football,HD movies and PS3/X360

which one would you get gamecocks? and why ?

        thanks a lot dude......

Re: help in buying TV please.....

I'd definitely go with one of the 120Hz models. Sports and fast moving action get the biggest benefit from the 120Hz. The extra processing effects that give an image a "soap opera" look vs. a "cinema" look can be turned down or completely turned off. And many times, manufacturer's put more features in the "next big thing" which would be the 120Hz models in this case.
The Sharp Aquos and Sony Bravia are very similar spec wise. The Sharp has 5 HDMI inputs vs. the Sony with 4 (not an issue if you have a receiver than handles all that). The Sony has a USB drive for photos, mp3s, and videos (mpeg 1, mpeg 2). Both have PC input so you can use it as a monitor and be a workaround for the Sharp not having a USB input) The Sharp has an edge in terms of pixel response 4ms vs. 6ms.

With it this close, I'd want to see both in person before deciding. If I was forced to blind buy one it would probably be the Aquos. Similar performance plus you get the extra LCD plus the Aquos Advantage Program (which is free).

              • 3-month extension the manufacturer's limited warranty
              • Dedicated toll-free number directly answered by AQUOS Advantage Advisors
              • Extended customer support hours (including weekends and holidays)for added convenience
              • Next-Business-Day service scheduling
              • Expedited turnaround time on all in-home service visits
              • If your TV cannot be repaired on the first visit, the Sharp Authorized Service Provider will provide you with a complimentary 32-inch HD loaner TV until your original TV is repaired.

              AQUOSAdvantage.com

Hope this helps. You're paying a load of money so I'd want to audition both (or all 3) contenders before deciding.

              Good luck

                thanks game....

my other issue isue is that the Sharp doesn't have a headphone access. Same problem with the 60 Hz samsung, but the salesamn showed how I can use an FM tuner or something like that to be able to use headphones. Can the same be said for the Sharp 120 Hz? is there anyway to use the headphones on that tv?

thanks for the detailed answers, really really appreciate it .

p.s- the aquous advantae program doesnt apply for me...since i live outside the USA now....

The LG also has better speakers (14W vs. 10W) if you aren't using a surround sound system. The Samsung gives you USB input (which is important if you have an external hard drive or big thumb drive) but the LG gives you a headphones jack (which is nice if you have roommates you don't want to disturb). The Sammy also allows the tv remote to control anything using HDMI. Samsung LCDs generally give a better picture.

Tough call. On paper, the LG is technically the better tv. Both are 2010 models so I would go to a Best Buy and see them in person before making a final decision.
the LG that I juts bought for my gaming and my PC monitor is only 720p native but has that 4ms response time, gaming looks so sweet on it.

I'm thinking the only work around would be a receiver or sound bar that has a headphones jack. Asking around and will let you know if they come up with something.

EDIT: Went here and downloaded the Sharp's manual: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Sharp...3457ag120/t/2/

You can use the RCA audio outs on the tv along with this http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 (probably $6-7 shipped)

Plug it into the RCA out and plug the headphones jack into it. That's a whole lot cheaper than buying a HTIB or soundbar.

I'd check to make sure your particular model does indeed have RCA outs.

One of the members at hidefdigest.com helped me out. The members there know WAY more than me. LOL

I thought you already bought a gaming/PC monitor? Did you get another? If so, what size?

Gotcha. I'm using an older 26" 720p LCD (doesn't even have the ASTC tuner) for my PS2 gaming. Never replaced the PS3 somebody stole last summer.

ahhh...finally made a decision...but it came out of left field hehe.

I was leaning towards the Sharp 46 inch model (with the free 22 inch tv deal) over the sony ex500, but then I saw the Samsung c650 at the next store.....holy crap, awesome picture....it was actually 200 more than the Sharp/Sony, but with some negotiation with the manager, he let me have it 200 dollars less because i told him if you give me this TV at that price, i will shop for my other appliances ( Washer, Fridge, microwave, etc) at his store. The store does have low prices on those appliances as well....

Anyways, got my TV with some haggling and nothing feels better than saving $200 with some talking, well maybe saving more will feel better .

So thank you gamecock.....really appreciated the help.

Hey, just wanted to come back and give an update. After a bit more research, I discovered that some are having an issue with the capacitors in the Samsung model. I also went and viewed both TVs head-to-head. Picture quality was nearly identical. I thought the Samsung was a prettier machine. The LG's sound was better. In the end, I decided to go with the LG, because it was $30 cheaper at Best Buy ($400, just like Amazon, while the Samsung was $430 and $30 more than its Amazon price) so I could buy it then and there and not deal with shipping. I'm loving this thing. Great picture quality and it's a great compact size (less than 19 pounds, too).

Once again I appreciate all the help. The LG 32LD350 is a beautiful TV and you can't go wrong.

Sweet. Always nice to get a deal, especially to the tune of $200. Does the c650 have headphone inputs? I'm being too lazy to look it up. LOL

Welcome to the LG family. I have the LG 50PQ30 (50" 720p plasma) FF also has a LG plasma. Both of us are happy campers. You'll find that LG models give you the best user options for tweaking the picture--that's was the deciding factor for me.
