help in buying a tv II
Looking into getting this tv for movies and gaming, etc, 360 and wii. Does anyone know if this would be good. Just looked at it today and the pic is nice on it, this is about as much as I could spend, dont wanna spend alot, its $598.00. Just wondering about the game lag and such people are talking about, thanks.

Re: help in buying a tv II
Not a fan of Vizio......however for that price range, you not going to get a Samsung, LG or Sony LCD tv for that size either. Vizio is one of the lowest priced tvs for LCD, however they not known for stellar quality either, so just make sure you save your receipt and box.
However you can get a 50 inch plasma for that price.
Also the whole gaming lag thing is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY over blown. Your average person won't notice it if they see it. And IMO you can't tell the difference between a 240, 120 or 60 side by side unless the tv is 47 inches or bigger anyway.
On 52's, 55's and 60's yeah you can clearly see the difference in a 240 vs 120. But on a 42 inch tv, no.Last edited by Gotmadskillzson; 07-16-2010, 10:02 PM. -
Re: help in buying a tv II
For your budget you can get a Panasonic Viera 42inch 1080p, 60Hz LCD.
Best Buy has it for $630 + taxes. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Panasoni...080p&cp=1&lp=6
You'd save about $60-70 if you bought from Amazon.com (free shipping + no taxes) http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Panasoni...080p&cp=1&lp=6
You'd save about $100 if you bought from buydig.com (free shipping + no taxes) http://www.buydig.com/shop/basket.as...na%20Threshold
Good luck.
EDIT: I'd probably go with the 120Hz Vizio vs. the 60Hz Panny. Didn't notice the Vizio was a 120Hz model. With a LCD, you definitely want 120Hz if it's in your price range.
I always say, go to the store and take a look at all of the tvs you're considering. The Panasonic may look better than the Vizio or vice versa. Don't blind buy on a $600 purchase. And don't be afraid to haggle with the sales person if you see a better tv that is a little more expensive--they want your sale and return business.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 07-16-2010, 11:59 PM.Comment

Re: help in buying a tv II
I don't know what it is with Vizio tv's, but everytime I look at a Vizio, Samsung, LG and Sony on a tv wall at a store, Vizio tv's color and picture always look weird compared to the other tv's.
I don't know what that is about. But that is the main reason I don't get caught up in the numbers too much when it comes to HZ. To me the contrast ratio is more important, because that number you can see the difference easily in tv's.Comment

I did buy a used DLP projector on ebay last night. Not quite 720p resolution and no HDMI, but it was only $200. I've got movies saved to a 1TB HD so the VGA connection will be fine.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 07-17-2010, 02:21 PM.Comment

Re: help in buying a tv II
Well turns out that I got to work some ot so now we are gonna go with the samsung LCD 46", 1080p, 120hz.
I read some reviews on the samsung 46" 60hz and people were saying that standard tv channels werent looking to good on there tv. Is that true with all LCD tvs or just certain brand, with certain hz, etc?GO STEELERS!!!Comment

Yeah I was in best buy over the weekend and I would have to say that the samsung tvs had by far the best picture than anything.

With your 120Hz , you may or may not like Trumotion (i believe Samsung calls it Auto Motion Plus). Some people love it, some hate it. Some like it in certain situations--may take getting used to.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 07-19-2010, 07:54 PM.Comment

Re: help in buying a tv II
Your HDTV will only be as good as the content you're feeding it. SD channels are going to look like crap (in comparison to HD channels) on any HDTV--it gets even worse the bigger you get b/c the lack of resolution in the source material becomes even more apparent.

So should I just get the 60hz, is there a big difference, I play games and watch football all winter long and is there gonna be any blurryness with the 60hz? what do you suggest?GO STEELERS!!!Comment

Re: help in buying a tv II
Noooooo. TruMotion can be turned off if you don't like it. Get the 120Hz set. LOLComment
