The Blu-ray arrived in the mail today, I can't wait to watch this show again. It just feels like season 2 is so far away.

                  That does look great.

                    Re: The Walking Dead

So apparently there's more behind the Darabont story and seems he didn't resign and AMC actually fired him.

The cast is "scared," the crew is crushed after Darabont is canned while working to fix an episode that a director turned in with unusable footage.

Now hearing that AMC actually FIRED Darabont and now is trying to pull executive decisions on how the show is shot since they wholly own the thing is making me nervous.

Now with what went down with Matthew Weiner and Mad Men, its actually not surprising this news trickles out.

AMC is playing a funny game with their original programming.

They've been questioned in the past couple months about their handling of every series. If they arent careful, they could crash as quickly as they rose.

Yeah, AMC has been losing a lot of credibility over the past month or so.

                          Re: The Walking Dead

Wow at this part. Is AMC losing their mind?

But this source says that AMC had its own ideas about how to make the show more cheaply. The show shoots for eight days per episode, and the network suggested that half should be indoors.

"Four days inside and four days out? That's not Walking Dead," says this insider. "This is not a show that takes place around the dinner table."

That was just one of what this person describes as "silly notes" from AMC. Couldn't the audience hear the zombies sometimes and not see them, to save on makeup? The source says Darabont fought "a constant battle to keep the show big in scope and style."
It's a zombie show. What the heck is going to happen inside for four days of shooting vs. four days outside?

That's a huge disparity. Inside shoots are always significantly easier and faster to shoot especially when you figure a good portion of the show will take place exterior at night. So this isn't like saying, half the episodes will take place inside. It's probably more like 60-70%.

I get the idea of having the audience hear rather than see the zombies. While I can see why Darabont wouldn't like that especially if he's thinking big in scope, I'm not surprised AMC would ask for that. And hey, we've all been saying that the show is more about the people than the zombies.

I don't know. I guess we'll see what happens. I hope AMC does't destroy this series.

                            Re: The Walking Dead

I can understand AMC wanting to keep costs low and that seems to be a constant theme with all these articles recently about their deal-workings with their hit-shows. While their shows collect accolades and awards, I'm not exactly sure they're doing rating wise, though I figure Breaking Bad is doing pretty good and The Walking Dead was unreal in the ratings. In the end, though, they've been alienating the very talent that's gotten them into the spotlight.
