Everybody has you taken care of. If the sound will be coming from the tv, then it's 3.5mm to 3.5mm ...no RCA (red/white) needed

RCA only needed if sound is going to come from a surround sound system/receiver

        Probably.

It would be nice if all laptops had HDMI. That would eliminate a lot of confusion and less wires. LOL

              Here's a 10-footer on monoprice.

Though if it were me I'd spend the extra two bucks and get the "combo" cable that include both the vga and the 3.5mm all in one (the same link that was posted earlier).

You'd need one of these adapters if you want to have the audio from a surround sound system instead of the tv: http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

VGA can only use the "AUDIO IN (RGB/DVI)" input for audio. It's a 3.5mm input, same size as the headphone jack on the laptop.

One of the links gamecock posted would have worked beautifully.

I freakin' love Monoprice. What a great site. The cables I've bought aren't tremendous quality, but you can buy three of four of them and still not spend nearly as much as you would at Radioshak or Best Buy.
