Amy Adams to play Janis Joplin in Upcoming film
while i am not a big fan of Janis Joplin i find this actress choice incredibly stupid. Producers are picking a actress who's last notable role was playing a singing princess in a Disney movie. i have no idea how they will get her voice to replicate Joplin's in an sort of way. further more based on vocal talent Pink should have gotten the role as she does an extremely good rendition of on of Joplin's biggest hits Me and Bobby Magee.

Rarely do actors use thier real voice on thses type of movies anyways so that's not really a factor but yeah Amy Adams does seem like a bizarre choice to play Joplin if just for the fact that no one would accuse Joplin of being good looking at least not in the barbie doll way that Adams is. Maggie Gylenhall would be my choice. -

Never much of a Joplin fan either, but that didn't mean she didn't have talent. You have to consider what everyone else was doing at the time and she wasn't emulating that...... well, she was in the drug category.Comment

Jenna Maloney will be devastated."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Haha, they gotta touch on this. "THAT BITCH!"
Jackie Jormp-Jomp haha...
"Kenneth Parcell: What can I do for you, Miss... Jimplin?
Jenna Maroney: [using the method to prepair for her Janis Joplin role] Well according to my Wikipedia page, I'm gonna need some Cherry juice, Buttermilk and Tequila to make my signature Janice Joplin cocktail: the Frank-schlong."
Also, that episode had maybe my favorite scene in all of 30 Rock history..
Liz Lemon: [holds up two halves of a lego train] Sorry, I dropped it when I pretended it was my penis.
[mechanical voice]
Liz Lemon: Robot-penis.
Haha, it keeps coming... great episode... Steve Buscemi rules (he directed it).
Improviser: [Reading a slip of paper drawn from a hat] The audience suggestion is "Sling Blade and Oprah on a date."
Liz Lemon: [In a Sling Blade voice while pretending to eat] I sure do like dem french-fried potaters.
Jenna Maroney: No you don't, Oprah.Last edited by Stumbleweed; 07-22-2010, 10:45 AM.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Amy Adams to play Janis Joplin in Upcoming film
I'm sure Season 5 will do something about that. Maybe even bring in Amy Adams if she lands the role.
(By the way, I'm still only halfway into Season 4...)
Back on topic:
Says that Scarlet Johansson was also up for the role. I think all of the considerations were a bit weird. Usually producers try to find someone that looks like the artist in question, but it seems they tried to find star power. I think Janis Joplin is a well-known enough name to attract attention without a star or popular face billing."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
