    Intensity Shuttle.

Does anyone have one of these?

I'm really wanting to get a capturing device to get screenshots but I don't really know how to set one of these up. I have an XBOX with HDMI inputs so this looks like it might be the only external capture card with HDMI. I've looked on youtube but I can't really find any good "set up" videos. I've read a bit about this and some people are using it with a 360, I'm just curious what they're setup is like.

      Re: Intensity Shuffle.

Simple really, you plug your 360 into the Shuttle's HDMI input and you run another HDMI from the Shuttle's HDMI output back to your TV. So instead of your 360 going to your TV it'd be connected to the Shuttle, and the Shuttle would be connected to the TV.

Have you done your research on this? You can't just plug the 360 in and start capturing, especially in HD. What are your PC specs? Do you have a motherboard that supports USB 3.0?

I'm in the process of buying a new PC. Should I get this or a blackmagic capture card that is internal? Also my PC is in another room about 25-30 feet away, Do they make cords that will reach that far?

I'm sure you can find a 30ft hdmi cord online somewhere.

I'd say it's a toss up between the two. I don't know anything about the Shuttle but it seems like it can do everything the Pro does. You may end up spending a bit more in the long run being that you have to invest in a motherboard with an x58 chipset/USB 3.0

Yeah, I haven't bought a computer in forever. The last one I bought had I think a Pentium II and 256 MB or RAM. I don't really know much about them anymore. I'm not looking to play games but I do want one that is fast on the internet and can capture gameplay from a capture card (so USB 3.0 support).

              Re: Intensity Shuttle.

Best advice I can give you is doing a bit of research before you pull the trigger on anything. Capturing HD (I assume you do want to capture HD videos/screens since you're looking at these products) isn't just about having a capture card. A lot of people buy these things and then realize that their computer isn't up to snuff, so what they thought was a $200 investment turns into possible a $1000+ investment.

Quick tips, but you should really head to Google and start typing in any specific questions you have.

              • Your CPU needs to be fast enough to handle the load you're throwing at it if you're capturing and encoding in real time (Intensity Pro does this, allows you to capture/encode on the fly, heavy load on cpu).
              • You'll need several HDDs as well as externals (if you plan on saving whatever you capture). HD footage takes up a lot of space.
              • Your HDD(s) need to be fast and spacious to handle the writing/reading of the huge file sizes of HD video.
              • You will need most likely need a RAID0 (Google if you don't know) if you plan on capturing uncompressed video.

                Re: Intensity Shuttle.

Don't buy anything from Black Magic. Just have gone through the fiasco with them. Basically to get anything to capture decently (esp. 1080p) you have to have a 4 drive RAID-0 setup with a quad-core or better. You can do 720p with two drives in striping mode (RAID-0) The Customer Service is terrible. BTW, the software isn't ready for 1080p capture, found that out from the Tech Support guy yesterday.

I was gonna buy a Shuttle after messing around the Intensity Pro for a week. I had choppy 1080i vid and wondered how with my new i7. I was gonna get a Buffalo USB 3.0 card and had called to see if my chipset (Intel H57) would work. Guy basically told me all the shortcomings that card had, not on purpose (only two chipsets certified, no 1080p software, need beast of system for 1080 capture, including 1080i) All told, was not sold and ordered another Hauppage. If you want to do 1080 PC capture with the Hauppage, I found a vid on YouTube that shows how you can do it at almost 1080. But, all things said, Black Magic is bad news all around. If need more convincing look up the Intensity Pro vs. Hauppage on YouTube. Guy pretty well sums up why not to buy Black Magic. Hope this helps...... Brian
