Need help with building a gaming PC (AKA a lot of help)

Hey guys. I was checking out the Oblivion thread in the NSG forum, and was really interested in the mods available for that and Fallout 3. I've wanted a good gaming PC for the longest time, but have never had a clue at all on how to build one, and i'd rather not just buy one at a store that will be more expensive and outdated sooner than later.

I'm not looking to spend a lot on it, especially since i'll need a monitor as well, and my budget isn't too high. Basically, as long as it can run games such as Oblivion and Fallout (with some of the higher end mods), and MMO's/RPG's like WoW and Starcraft 2, i'll be happy. I'm not looking to play games like Crysis that well, as I know that will cost me a pretty penny. I'm just sick of missing out on the big games on PC, especially with the excellent mod communities out there, and really want to dive into them. If anyone can give some specific help and ideas on where and how to shop for parts, i'd really appreciate it

Building your own PC isn't too difficult, newegg.com is where I typically shop.
