Oh. Man, yeah. That'd be disastrous. But I think this is a different situation. Scrubs spent a fair portion of their last "Braff" season introducing the new crew, who were all going to be essentially replacing the original cast a la "Saved By The Bell: The New Class". I don't think that's what we'll be seeing here. Though, I agree promoting within the company might not be a bad thing.

Dwight as the manager would be funny for an episode or two, but I don't think that could last a whole season. I like mattgoblues idea

Yeah, Dwight would be funny, but only for a limited time.

And Jim being the manager sucks, as proven by last season.

Question: would Tim Allen bust out his Michigan-based university sweatshirts at office functions? Also, what role would Al Borlin play in all of this?

Why the change of mind? I think Allen would be terrible for the show.

I just had this sudden picture of modern day Tim Allen somehow escaping his cheesy Tool Time past and making us all believers again as he put on the performance of a lifetime as the new head man of The Office, showcasing an amazingly more mature and dry side to his humor that'd win over fans and strangers alike.

And then I probably woke up.

I still catch the occasional Home Improvement rerun to this day. Hilarious show.

After last season my expectations are pretty low. So low that I might be surprised. It's amazing how far this show has fallen.

It was a ratings dynamo, and I could never understand it. My dad (HUGE FAN) would argue with me about it being better than Frasier (in the same time slot for years), even though he never saw Frasier LOL. I still consider it a poor man's Everybody Loves Raymond. (which my Dad also loved)

How can it be a poor man's Everybody Loves Raymond when it came first? Lol. And don't get me wrong, I loved that show too, but Home Improvement is an all-time classic.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand...

                          Yeah a little off topic.

For the record a poor man's whatever can precede or follow whatever it's being compared to.

e.g. Primo Carnera was a poor man's Wladimir Klitschko.

I like the Office. The average sitcom is long dead, in this day and age you needed a new concept, and the Office was that. Now the "documentary" style is going to be the new standard, you already see a number of clones with Modern Family (which I find to be better than the Office) and there's another new show about high school students premiering this Fall under the same concept.

The show has a good balance of funny and charming. I'll admit it's grown weaker as it's progressed, but then again most shows do by the time they hit seven seasons. I feel the show could continue quality-wise without Carrell, because you can put a name talent in there to replace him. But I doubt it could keep up ratings-wise.

I'm sure many of you have already thought or said this, but I think I enjoyed the show more, when Jim and Pam weren't dating, but had that chemistry.

Now they're married, and there isn't as much tension to them. Yeah, they're working on Dwight and Angela, and Andy and Erin. And that's fine. But this show pretty much was all about Jim and Pam.

I also think Jim got very boring when he was a co-manager, and hopefully the writers figured that out and that's why they put him back in sales.

The episode where he goes back, and puts Dwight's tie in coffee, I remember thinking, "that shows that prankster Jim is back".

He's still not the same. Season 3 was probably my favorite season.

I guess I'm one of the few who actually really liked season 6. All the seasons have been entertaining to me up to this point.
