Just how I feel right now, and it's a great song.

Re: What are you listening to?

Local band I just got home from seeing - The Silk Shieks. Two of my good friends play in this band on keyboard and guitar. They play covers of old funk and lounge type music - heavy on the Booker T and the MGs and The Meters.

Threw on an iTunes shuffle and this was the first song that popped up:

Re: What are you listening to?

I like these guys when they rock and even their folksy material. I just wish they were a bit more rock and that the lyrics were stronger. Still a good band though.Comment

Re: What are you listening to?

Which one? :P I would guess Heartless Bastards since I don't think Band of Skulls has done anything folksy. If that's the case definitely check out the Arrow album, I liked The Mountain quite a bit but so far I'm liking Arrow a decent amount better. They are definitely a lot more rock on it including some very improved guitar play. (drumming was already pretty good IMO)

Still a tiny bit folksy (that won't change) but I'd say a 9/10 ratio rock compared to like a 6-7 before. It's a very impressive album.Comment

Re: What are you listening to?

I'm still waiting for my pre-order to come in the mail (waited until the last minute to preorder unfortunately), but so far my favorite album is All This Time. I love the songwriting from beginning to end, but all their albums are great. The Mountain feels as expansive as..well a mountain, whereas All This Time is like you're in a meadow.Which one? :P I would guess Heartless Bastards since I don't think Band of Skulls has done anything folksy. I am seeing them at the end of the month. I can't wait.

I haven't listened to All This Time enough, I heard The Mountain and kind of got hooked on that. Went back and listened to there other two albums but I'll have to give All This Time another shot, I remembered really liking at least 3-4 songs on that one I may not of listened to the whole thing.Comment

Re: What are you listening to?

I like them both though I like the female vocals in Band Of Skulls a bit more. There is a bit of folksy sound in both groups at times. It's not major, but it's definatly there at times. Both albums are definately worth owning stillWhich one? :P I would guess Heartless Bastards since I don't think Band of Skulls has done anything folksy. Re: What are you listening to?

Currently listening to mainly this album...really enjoy EVERY track. My only complaint would be there are too many songs centered around dysfunctional relationships and lost love. I appreciated "Brothers" more because there was more substance to the discography.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment
