    Help with buying audio cable?

And the surround sound system that I just bought

I have an HD Comcast box with component cables and my Xbox 360 with an HDMI cable connected to my TV. What do I need to do/get so that I can have both of them connected to the surround sound?

Do you have HDMI input and output? Ideally, you want 1 HDMI cable to connect from your tv to the receiver. Then everything else connects to the receiver.

In theory, you could connect the 360 via another HDMI cable. Then, cable box with component cables for video only...and either digital coax or standard RCA (red/white) cables for sound. Digital coax would be the best (if your cable box supports it).

No. I mean the DVD player...does it have 2 HDMI slots...1 for input and 1 for output?

www.monoprice.com is where to go in case you need video or audio cables.

So only 1 HDMI slot then?

If yes, the DVD player's limited connectivity is an issue.

1 HDMI goes from TV to DVD player (receiver). Now you have 2 devices that will have to go component and S-video.

You will not get a HD picture using S-video. Only way around this would be to give up surround whenever you want to use the 360. (HDMI from tv to the 360 directly).

Once you figure out the exact cables you need, I highly recommend Monoprice or Blue Jean Cables for your purchases.

What is a $50 cable at Best Buy becomes a $6 cable online. Have around 20 different cables purchased through them and they are everything I could possibly want and have had no issues what so ever.

I think I've found a new site to blow my money on! I'm gonna get a wall mount for my 42" and a HD antenna. I'm loving this site! Man, $50 goes a long way there! Thanks!

Does it matter if I'm not really going to use the DVD player? And just use it for sound?

Yeah it matters because you only have 1 HDMI Connection & it's an OUTPUT.

In order to get audio from your other devices to work via that HT, you need an HDMI switcher. Monoprice has them:

I posted this-1 because it offers you a couple of extra connections outside of HDMI. Also as posted if your gonna order need extra cables use Monoprice.

I was wondering, if there's any cable that outputs the sound that comes from the TV. Because with that, I would just have to connect it form the TV into the AUX In port on the DVD player.
