For those that watched: What do you think was going on between Erica and Nina?

Very weird mother/daughter relationship.

I'm sure there was some physical abuse. I have to admit I wondered about sexual abuse, but I'm having a hard time convincing myself that it was that bad. Then again, there's a lot of sexual tension in the film between the two. Very awkward scenes with the licking of fingers, lines like "Are you ready for me yet?" while wearing lingerie, locking a mother out in near self-defense, Nina having an awkward reaction to talk about sex.

Very hard to put together.

For one i thought the mother was overcompensating for not having her ballet career skyrocket because of Nina's birth, and live vicariously through Nina's career. Some of it also was Nina's obvious mental disorder that was hinted at in the whole movie and her mother was quite aware of and desperately trying to prevent the total mental break that Nina eventually had at the end of the film.

I really want to say its an instant top 5 or 6 of all time for me, but I want to wait before I set it in stone. Its definitely the best of 2010 for me though. I loved everything; very few movies take you on a genuine trip and at the end make you feel like you really went somewhere and this movie did that and more.

I felt the same way after watching. I pushed it down a bit, but I'm still fighting with that.

Thing is: even though I think Toy Story 3 was the best movie of the year, I wouldn't rank it in my Top Films. I just don't really consider animations in my all-time list. I would put Black Swan ahead of it.

There are things about The Fighter that I enjoyed more as a film, but Black Swan fits my personal best because it is exactly the genre I love to watch.

That probably doesn't make any sense to not put it above The Fighter in a 2010 Top List, but to then say I would choose it as the top film in my own personal list. Makes sense to me...

I'm gonna leave it as my favorite of 2010. Nothing else really compares to the first viewing other than Inception, Scott Pilgrim, and possibly Kick ***.

I was never really drawn into The Fighter for the right reasons. If Christian Bale wasn't there, it probably wouldn't have been nearly as good.


First and foremost I want to say that this film made me greatly appreciate ballet (and dance in general). It wasn't just the endurance and strength of the dancers, it was the whole performance. I have an urge to actually go see a ballet.

I don't really have a good structure for my thoughts on the movie, so I'll just reply to the whole mother/daughter dynamic that was discussed earlier. I didn't really see the mother being anything other than coddling and overprotective - from her side at least. The sexual tension doesn't come from their relationship, but from the fact that both are grown women still living together like Nina is 12. That was the weird thing to me. Obviously the mother was trying to protect Nina from the obvious mental breakdown that was coming, but no dice. Not to mention the whole movie is from Nina's point of view. We only see the other characters as Nina sees them and how she reacts to them and as the movie progresses, the whole reality of the movie is essentially in question. It was an abnormal relationship yes, but I don't think it was anything abusive.

There is one oral sex depiction that might be a bit much for a first date.

I saw this movie today with my girlfriend, and it really wasn't my thing. Portman was (she just won a Golden Globe tonight) great but I kept longing for appearances by ridiculously sexy Mila Kunis.

I still give it a thumbs up for Kunis, Portman and some of the other performances.

I hope I don't come off as shallow. My girlfriend loved it.

And Black Swan was an incredible movie, hands down! Portman's performance was excellent and the dancing was great.

What happened to Elisha? I haven't seen her in anything for awhile.

I forgot to say this, but it is almost shocking to me that little Jackie from That 70s Show has become what she is today. Mila was great in Black Swan and I loved her in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

She's actually a pretty good actress. Not great. Maybe not necessarily very good. But, she's pretty good. Knows her limits right now and I think she's taking on roles that put her in good position to show what she can do.

I don't think she has leading lady skills, but she's still young. May be one of those actors that ages well in talent.
