    Which PC?

I've basically narrowed it down to these 2 in my price range, plus newegg has free shipping, but only on the first one. Which do you guys think?

I guess we're basically talking here, do I want AMD/ATI or Intel/NVIDIA?? no?

They're both Athlon CPU's, but the better video card is the gt 240.

Sorry, you're right.... I was confusing this with what I saw on the Meritline sight.

I would consider getting the one with the crappy graphics card, getting the slightly better processor, and saving the $70 bucks to put toward a graphics upgrade.

Good logic. Since I posted, I'm now considering barebones.... thoughts?

and this lower end card (higher end for me)..... but then again I don't do more than play mvp and tw08... I"m not a big high end gaming graphics need guy.

Try and get at least 4gb of ram if you're gonna use Windows 7 with a mid-high end setup.

What do you want to do with this PC and what is the most you can afford?

I would stay away from iBuy Power and CyberPower.

Ya, the more I read about iBuyPower, the less palatable it was (bad name to boot!). I pulled the plug on the barebones kit above and it does have 4gigs ram. I think I'm gonna stay with XP as I'm not hearing vast improvements with 7. If it ain't broke......

Wish me luck with the construction.... I have a lot to learn.

Recently shopping for a new one myself I'm curious as to what's wrong with Cyberpower exactly? I decided on another computer that'll be here thursday but was just wondering.

Absolutely nothing is wrong with cyberpower. They've been building custom PC's for a long time and have actually expanded with buyxg. You're not going to find cheaper prices for custom pc's than cyberpower/buyxg and you can literally choose exactly what you want in your system.

You can find people who have had issues with every single retailer whether online or not, that's just the way it is.

Got this baby up and running! Stupid thing was not buying a cpu cooling fan with the kit and had to deal with BestBuy (though not terrible... they did take back the monstrosity I bought a la Mr. Geek Squad.... I should have known b/c he didn't look geeky enough!). Eventually cost me only $30 for what looks to be a pretty solid fan. A bugger to strap on though (that's what she said). So, overall a pretty good hummin' machine for around $400! Also, identified my old HDD easily.
