    DLP or LCD

Which would you get? A 65in 60hz refresh DLP TV or a 55 in 120hz refresh LCD TV if the price is the same for both? Please post what you would choose and why.

My understanding is that over time DLP will lose its' brilliance.... so you'll get a constantly degrading picture. I don't think you have this with LCD's.

Or you can do what Steven Wright said he did in his most recent stand up routine:

"I bought a Plasma TV today in case that later on I would need a transfusion." hehe

Depends on the price....truth be told, you can get 73 inch DLP TV's for $1,400. Nowadays you will be lucky to get a 55 inch LCD for $1,400. So when it comes to big screens, I will rock a DLP all day long.

Yes and no. The bulb in a DLP will eventually get darker and die (same as a light bulb). It costs around $200 to replace and is very easy to do. New bulb and the picture is as bright as the day the TV was purchased.

I have a 46" DLP and 37" LCD in the bedroom right now (the 46" will be replaced by a 63" 3D plasma later this year). The LCD has a more vibrant picture IMO. Of course, I bought the LCD about 5-6 years after the DLP so technology in both areas changed a lot during that time...therefore my opinion might be skewed. Don't get me wrong...I like both TV's a lot, but the picture on the LCD just seems to "pop" more.

I have a 46" Sammy DLP. My screen got darker over 3 years. But I just replaced my bulb last week and it's just like new. DLP tv's are easy to work on also.

            Re: DLP or LCD

Depends what you're looking for. DLP's are generally cheaper for more size plus they have much better speakers (in case you don't have surround sound). I have a 62" Samsung DLP that we picked up (open box item) for about $1200 and geez it's beautiful, especially on game days. Also, it doesn't weigh much, just needs 2 people to move it because it's so big. that's what she said

We also have a 36" Samsung LCD ($800) and as mjb stated, the colors seem to pop more and I tend to notice the game graphics have a smoother, more fluid movement to them but nothing that makes you stand up and applaud. Of course, the big draw here is the portability of it.

I play my 360 on both; sometimes I simply prefer one over the other.

How far away will you be sitting? Take a look at the following chart: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...42531#howbigtv

Also, depends on what's most important to you. The LCD is naturally brighter so it's going to "pop" more in terms of visuals. 10 inches of TV screen is a very big difference. You also have to figure in lamp replacements every 3 or so years at $150-200 each. Tough call.

This would be a whole lotta screen for $1300 (no taxes and free shipping) http://www.amazon.com/Mitsubishi-WD-...3979135&sr=8-2

You could always go with plan C which would be to get a 1080p projector. Less space and up to 120 inches.

Assuming you're a gamer, I'd go with 120 hz over something bigger at 60.

DLPs (like plasmas) don't suffer from motion blur. So 60 Hz is not really an issue.

The rainbow effect could possibly be a problem.

Ah, you're right I forgot he said DLP. However, going DLP will require bulb replacement at some point as well, so something else to consider.

I had a 47' 1080 LCD for several months and traded it in and got a 55' Sony SXRD (Sony's version of DLP) and the difference is night and day. The SXRD has the best picture i've ever seen on a TV. The colors aren't as bright, but the contrast is miles better.

LCD though I'd say to heck with them both and get LED.

I'd be tempted to say heck with LED, and get a plasma that's half the price, same lifespan (around 100,000 hrs), and produces better black levels and motion at 600 hz.

I was looking at this TV last week. I hate wearing the glasses, so I think it will be a long time before I go the 3D route.

Forgot which manufacturer it is, but they are trying to get a no glasses 3D TVs out by early next year.

Still no standards though, so I'm waiting.
