Jumper-Had Potential !!!!!

Watched the movie Jumper again on FX last night. Boy that movie had so much potential to be good, what happened to it? I remember reading the website and viral messaging before the movie came out and it was certainly very interesting.

In the movie, Samuel Jackson's character doesn't even give us a reason why he's hunting the Jumpers; all he said is that "Only God should have this power" which is another road they could of gone but ignored it. The website mentioned that by Jumping, it creates a vortex in the time continuing system; thus the more people jump the bigger the hole becomes and eventually causing major damage to the earth and its people.

If this was an independent film with a good amount of time in filming we could of gotten something along the lines of the Matrix but we got a summer flick with no real content.

I hear their trying to make a sequel, would it be too much to ask for a real movie??

B) Everything else that was wrong with it.

I'd like to mention that I have not seen the movie, I just hate him.

I really don't think this movie had much potential to begin with, and I was left with such a sour taste in my mouth after this. I think the idea is there for a movie like this to be made in the right light, but even from the trailers I can tell that the "potential" is nothing but a missed mark.

Doug Liman also isn't atop my favorite directors, especially in a "grand scale" scope. IMO his best directorial work was Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Agreed, they could have done more with it.

A movie along the same lines, that was done right, IMO, was Push. Enjoyed it much more than Jumper. Only negative is that the ending felt like a cliffhanger that screamed for a sequel (that probably will never come).

Well, for starters it had Hayden Christensen in it. That should be a red flag, which has me seriously worried about the quality of Takers since that not only has Hayden in it, but Paul Walker as well. Lets hope a good script can prevail.

I agree that this movie had potential. Great concept, and it was just cool visually. Throw in some new actors and a new director and you could have something here.
