    Lone Star - FOX Series

Anyone else watch this on Monday night or after onine/DVR?

It's actually very good. Had great reviews. However, it bombed and lost over 50% of its viewers from House.

I blame FOX for its awful marketing. I had no idea what Lone Star was even about from the few times I saw the commercials. I actually brushed it off and forgot it even existed until I looked through the Fall Schedule Monday morning and made up a list of shows I wanted to watch.

I wikied Lone Star and the premise is interesting.

Robert Allen (James Wolk) is a Texas con-man who leads a secret double life. As "Bob," he is married to Cat and living in Houston while working for his oil-tycoon father-in-law. Four hundred miles away, he is "Robert" in a second life with girlfriend Lindsey. As he schemes to take control of the oil business and finds himself torn between the love of two women, he must fight to keep his web of lies from falling apart.

The pilot was one of the best pilots I've seen in a long time, but it doesn't seem like anyone really noticed.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

To be honest I never gave it a chance as the basic premise didn't really appeal to me. The whole thing with his double lives and him juggling the 2 of them seems like it would get old fairly quickly. How many times can they have him narrowly escape one chick finding out about the other?

It doesn't seem like it'll go that route with him keeping the women away from each other. The real issue is him being a con man and avoiding detection from the oil tycoon boss that claims no one dirty ever gets away with anything under his nose.

There's a lot more to the story that I rather not reveal unless you're willing to read spoilers. FOX really did a bad job of marketing this thing. The two women are important to his life, but the drama isn't in keeping them away from each other. There's much more at stake.

Been reading a lot about FOX looking to pull the plug on this one. It's a shame. The series was called one of the best pilots for the Fall. It received rave reviews. It had one of the best pilot episodes I've ever watched on network television.

Marketing failed this one. It's a shame because the concept is great.

I didn't watch it because the commercials I saw didn't really do anything for me, but I will say that FOX has a tendency to murder shows with bad time slots. Mondays are PACKED, and I don't see how they expected a brand new show to do good ratings in that situation. They did the same thing with dollhouse and terminator, bad time slots/no marketing=eventual cancellation.

Now don't take this as bible by me by any means, but I work at Fox in Chicago and we haven't received our promos for next week's episode. "Rumor" around the office is that the plug has already been pulled.

Now, I don't believe this at all - but it's VERY weird we haven't received the promos yet.

I saw a EW article that said it may be gone fast...

I was interested but Mondays have too many shows I record so wasn't able to add it in...

This. At least it looks like she'll be back as Tyra in FNL for a couple of episodes this season.

Hey, that's cool. I don't expect it to impress everyone. I do think it's a great Pilot, but that's just me. It looks like I'm in the minority too. Oh well.
