    Jimmy Eat World - Invented

Out next Tuesday, the 28th. Album stream via Myspace is here: http://mysp.ac/JUYRs

The album was produced by the same producer who helped the band out with Clarity and Bleed American.

I haven't listened to it all the way through by any means, but two tracks in I like what I hear. Anyone getting this?

I am for sure. I listened to entire cd on their website, where it is also streaming. So glad they got rid of the overly poppy sound they had on their last cd.

Getting it first day it comes out. I want to try and not hear any of the tracks if possible.

As for their last album, I really loved Big Casino, Always Be, and Chase This Light. There were some songs I could have gone without.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed their last cd (Dizzy was easily my favorite). However, I enjoyed their sound from Bleed American and even Futures much more. They have always had a bit of a pop sound to them, but I felt their last cd was over the top polished pop.

Agree 100%. IMO, they went away from the sound that made them unique and a favorite of mine to sounding much more like a whole lot of other bands.

Saw them live in Atlanta on Tuesday night. First off, they put on a great show and played all the hits plus a few new tracks from Invented.

I have listed to the album all the way through multiple times via the web and I am impressed. I've loved each album, but this new record does go back to the sound that was very popular during Bleed American and Futures.

I've got Invented pre-ordered on iTunes and I'm looking forward to blasting it on Tuesday.

Yeah, so for those who have listened to the cd from the bands website or myspace, what's your favorite track so far? Mine has to be "Invented", followed by "Cut".

Evidence is really good. I like Movie Like and Stop a lot too.

Re: Jimmy Eat World - Invented

Got it about an hour ago, listening through Mixtape right now (there are four bonus songs on this track to listen to as well). I can't actually remember which songs I found to be my favorite of the bunch yet, though I specifically remember liking Cut (favorite song of the album) and Invented. I believe I actually disliked Higher Devolution and I was disappointed with Coffee and Cigarettes (though the acoustic track is still coming up momentarily), and Movielike had a pretty good chorus punch. I thought Heart Is Hard to Find was a nice differential from the bunch with that Scottish style it had going for it, but it's strange that it would be the opening song as that would normally define the style of the entire album.

Only real complaint I have so far is my PS3 couldn't obtain any CD information for the album so I'll have to input everything manually, though my laptop had no trouble with it. Do you have to be connected to PSN for that? I wouldn't think so, but maybe that has something to do with it. The other issue I have is the album is listed as "Punk" by iTunes. Not even close.

I'm enjoying the album, but if it really meant to be diverted from Chase This Light by being less "poppy", I could have settled for another iteration of that album as well. I mean it's not like this album has a Sweetness, Futures, or even a similar sound to The Middle on it. J.E.W. is simply a great band and most of what they play could sound good no matter how it's categorized. It's like how you could listen to Morgan Freeman read a cookbook recipe and it would be the best piece you've heard in a long time.

EDIT: I think this album could have also done well without Courtney Marie Andrews doing backup vocals for about five of the songs. Again, not bad... but overbearing at times when it probably shouldn't be.

SECOND EDIT: I think most of you can go without the deluxe edition after giving it a listen through. The first twelve tracks are plenty. Sometimes I am disappointed when I hear that some tracks don't make the final cut of an album and they should just throw them in anyway, but this is a reminder of why they were cut. Not that they're bad, but not worth the extra... however much more it cost me to get the deluxe edition, plus when you have it going on shuffle in your car you may feel compelled to skip the tracks. The slimbook case is nice though.

Is this anything similar to something from the Clarity or Static Prevails era?

I think the cd sounds like all their last three cds at least at some point. I think mostly the cd sounds like Futures. After many listens I must say "Evidence", "Movielike"(which reminds of 30 Seconds To Mars recent stuff) and "Invented" are definately my top three. Very catchy stuff! I wish the harder section of "Invented" would have been longer though, it's such a cool part. The song before "Invented", I can't remember the name right now, feels like filler to me and is probably my least favorite. "Mixtape" is fine until the last part of it when it get repetitive. The chorus for that song is lame. "Coffee and Cigarettes" has grown on me actually, but I still don't like the "Oooh" backing vocals. It reminds me too much of "Movielike". Overall I really enjoy the disc. I just wish the rockers had been as well written as the slower songs.

I think it's "Action Needs an Audience," one which I'm not too fond of either.

Cut still seems to be my favorite of the album, and as far as the extra songs on the exclusive CD my favorite song is Anais (Demo Version).
