    Desktop PC - Thoughts/Help?

I'm thinking about buying a Dell PC, below are the specs:

Processor: Intel i7-860 processor (8 MB Cache, 2.8 GHz)
    Memory: 12 GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAm @ 1333MHz- 4 DIMMs
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 5670 1 GB
    Hard Drive: 1.5TB - 7200 RPM, SATA 3.0 GB/s, 16MB Cache

...along with other features like Microsoft Office, Windows 7 Premium, Adobe, Monitor/Speakers/Keyboard/Mouse.

The specs I listed is kindly what I am curious about as I'm not a big tech guy. The total price is $2000 which I find expensive but I have a SLOW computer and I want optimal speed. What are the differences in hard drive (1 TB, 1.5 TB) and the memory (6 GBs, 8 GBs, 12 GBs) and how the computer runs?

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I guess it depends on what you want it for. See my earlier thread and what I did:

I haven't really pushed it with any state of the art game, but I dont really need that. I play TW08 with everything maxed out and it looks fine. I do some video editing / DVD authoring and I'm completely satisfied. I spent a fortune on my first pc which was a waste of money. Just be careful that you're getting what you pay for.

Not much at all. I would get the lower spec and upgrade to a longer warranty.

Which one did you end up buying? I also noticed that both of those have memory of 4 GB DDR and the above specs I posted has 12 GBs...Fish says there's no difference between the two but what does it mean? Why is there a difference?

The TigerDirect kit, but if I had to do it over again, I'd make sure there is a cpu cooling fan as part of it. Had to hassle a bit with Best Buy to get one. Also bought the card (nvidia) in that same posting. Again, not top of the line, but I don't want to spend on a video card what I can spend on a TV.... or a small dog.

Kenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.
Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
              Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....
              Kenny: Everyone wins?!?!

              Captain Tenneal: Get it on!

Yes..... I still have my old bulky big, but nice Dell monitor and had some peripherals, plus working on transfering files from my old HDDs so I can wipe it clean and use it as a good back up. I also stuck my old DVD drive to have a second one for any need.

The only thing about this nvidia PCI-E card I got is that it tends to be blocking the one PCI slot, essentially leaving me with only other PCI slot. Not the end of the world though.

Also, they didn't give me enough SATA data cables, but monoprice has them cheap as does ebay.

As you can see in the pix, it can be done.

What are you going to do with this PC? If its for gaming, get a better videocard like a 5850.

If you can afford $2,000 on features you don't really need go for it. I mean really, unless you are doing hardcore graphic, video editing and other really intense stuff you will never need 12 GB of RAM or a 1.5 TB HDD.
