He wasnt bad. Not amazing though. But it was funny to see Eli in a different light.
He made a play on Peyton's United Way sketch from 2007, did a Farve'esqu sexting fiasco skit, and a Madden motion cap skit amoung others. He wasn't bad but SNL in general has been pretty weak for years.
Aside from the last two sketches (Drag queen & Essentials), I thought the show was pretty good. Eli was obviously terrible at reacting with a live crowd (in terms of pausing for applause/laughter), but his enthusiasm for everything covered up a lot of his nervousness. Definitely better than some of the people who act for a living that have hosted recently.
Honestly surprised that we didn't get another Kristen Wiig regular character as part of her (apparent) final episodes. I could see the Will Ferrell episode having Target Lady one more time. What else does she have left to do? ...Penelope? I wouldn't mind an Aunt Linda/Judy Grimes on Weekend Update. Would actually love to see Virgania Horsen - thought that was hilarious.
With Sudeikis also probably gone, can we PLEASE get one more A-Holes sketch?

For a Will Ferrel episode I was disappointed. More proof the writers don't know how to use a host anymore.
How in the world is Ferrel there and the only character we get is W?
Huge waste of opportunity. What I don't understand is why the writers don't use old nostalgic characters to introduce new ones.
Also how in the bleeping heck do you use the W character and do everything to avoid having him speak to Obama. Really?!

"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Yeah, this election cycle has been pretty crazy, surprised there wasn't a Romney-Bush-Obama sketch of some kind. Guess they'll lay into all of that when they return.
