    Re: Saturday Night Live

It's almost that time of year!

Really hoping they cut down on political stuff the first couple weeks, considering they have the Thursday specials. The political stuff lately has been really hit-or-miss, and I'd rather they push that to the Thursday show.

...unless they totally revamped their Obama and Romney portrayals, that is.

Going to be weird with new faces, both in terms of recent hiring and others just getting more screen time due to Wiig/Samberg/Elliott leaving. I think Taran Killam's a given for having a big year, but I'd really like to see Nasim Pedrad get some time now that the female side of the cast is wide open to showcase everyone.

Sitting at home wondering what I'm gonna do tonight.

            Then I remembered.

            [insert fist pump gif]
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Solid start to the season. Loved that they used the host as much as possible.

Saw the first segment, slept through the second... Glad to hear it's a decent episode.

What a great season premiere! Jay Pharoah was excellent as Obama. He had him spot on! And props to Arnisen for introducing him during the opening monologue. Must have been tough to step aside in that role.

                            I concur!

I went in thinking that Seth MacFarlane would be a great host, because of all of his voices.

                              Re: Saturday Night Live

I think I liked all of the segments.

MacFarlane as Lochte was decent. Lochte jokes are too easy. Just make him dumb. I still laughed.

                              "Juice."
"Are you saying you want your juice?"

I also really liked the 17-year-old Puerto Rican girl. When they did the intros, my eyes opened wide when they showed Cecily Strong. Mmm.

Anyway, Jay was just being creepy on the side as the over protective Dominican man while the girl talked about the typical nonsense you hear from a PR New Yorker. Loved it.

                              Hader's puppet was good too.

Frank Ocean can sing, but what the hell was he doing playing a video game while John Mayer played a solo? Just weird. Very weird. Maybe it's just me, but Frank Ocean looks like he's one loud noise away from going postal on people.

Also Gangnam Style made its appearance on SNL. I wondered if they'd do it, but didn't think they really would. Mostly because the video is something my friends and I laugh over constantly, I couldn't stop laughing during the skit.

I wish they did more with Eastwood. SNL gets into this habit sometimes where something awkward happens in the world of politics or entertainment and instead of using it for a skit, they just kind of remake the scene. Would have liked for them to use Eastwood in a skit where maybe he's in a nursing home talking to empty chairs. I don't know. Something that would hit home because we all know what happened, but isn't simply a rehash of the events.

That was the weakest point of the episode for me.

I'm just glad they are trying to use Pharoah a little more.

I liked the Steve Harvey skit. Loved the bit about the Earth, Wind and Fire cover band. What were they called? Dirt, Water & Heat.
