    Re: Saturday Night Live

This was my favorite episode of the season. Having the real Nic Cage show up was pretty awesome. The Chrysler and Verizon ads were funny. The Crab Blast 2012 is the worst sketch of the season. Even the audience didn't laugh. Bein' Quirky with Zooey Deschanel was the best sketch of the night that featured Zooey. Zooey screwed up the gay marriage line during her last sketch.

As for Karmin ....... where do I even start? lol

Here's' a funny *****'s guide to Karmin from Gawker:

Oh yeah if Mitt Romney becomes the next US President they might suffer from the same problem they have with Obama right now. They're having a hard time coming up with funny material about these guys.

Yeah, the same way they still do Obama as the calm/cool guy in the room they're doing Romney as the guy who's unable to relate to people. Both good in certain context, but there's no character trait in either impression to make them good long-term.

I mean, Will Ferrell as GWB, Hammond as Clinton, Carvey as George H.W....even Fey as Palin, Amy Poehler as Hilary, and Hammond as Al Gore. You can go back to Chevy Chase as Ford. These all had SOMETHING to them. Sudeikis' and Armisen's impressions don't.

Of course this isn't anything we haven't covered a million times in this thread already.

GREAT episode last night. It's funny that I'll have paragraphs when I didn't like the show, but now I have very little to say when I like it. But what more can I say after I call it great?

Yes, very good episode. They always go all out when a former cast member returns to host it seems.

              Agreed. Great skits all around.

Probably best episode this season for me.

                Re: Saturday Night Live

This was probably the best non-Timberlake hosted episode in the past 3 years. I laughed during every sketch.

                - Best Cold Opening of the season
                - Paul Simon with ..... Stefon
                - Timberlake imo is already in the SNL Hall Of Fame. He killed it in both of his sketches
                - I thought they retired What's Up With That. I always laugh whenever I see Sudeikis dancing in the background
                - The How's He Doing sketch deserved bigger laughs from the audience. I was rolling when they paused after the Tupac question
                - I'm glad they found something different to do with Obama. They probably can't make this a regular sketch because they don't have someone to play Michelle Obama on a regular basis
                - When did Jessie J have a group called Sleigh Bells? Music was horrible
                - How much money did Lindsay Lohan pay Lorne Michaels so she could host SNL? She's currently irrelevant right now but I really enjoyed the last time she hosted

This was one of those episodes were the recaps don't do it justice. It was really great from start to finish. I think even the people that love to bash SNL have to admit this was good.

Darn Hulu. They cut out Stefon. Gonna have to watch this online.

                    Re: Saturday Night Live

Definitely the best one of the season. The whole cast always steps up if one of their own comes back, especially if its from their generation.

                      Re: Saturday Night Live

According to TMZ, Lohan reached out to Lorne to ask if she could host.

I don't remember the last we had a host that had nothing to plug. I wouldn't mind seeing Rachel Dratch for the 2nd time this season so we can get another Debbie Downer sketch. I consider the first Debbie Downer sketch to be one of the funniest in the history of SNL.

Yep, and that was the problem with every other Debbie sketch. It could never live up to the first (Was Lohan's the first? If not it's the first I remember). The first one so funny because the cast couldn't hold it together. Every one after that, it seemed like they thought they had to keep that going so their laughter during them seemed forced and fake.

Yes Lohan appeared in the first ever Debbie Downer skit on May 1st, 2004.

Here's a link to the sketch

Btw Vancity I've been listening to this Lana Del Rey album for the past four days and love it.

Thought I should give her a fair shake after her SNL performance. Really like her music.

From start to finish I think it's a great album. I had some of her "unfinished" tracks and they even sounded better than the final version on the album.

I haven't looked at the recent sales numbers, but during the first week, the album finished 2nd behind Adele.

It looks like there's a chance this is Abby Ellliot's final season. It looks like she's going to get the lead role in a Fox comedy and if it gets picked up, Lorne Michaels will release her from her SNL contract.

I'm in the same boat, only I'm listening to Amazon previews. Just can't decide if I like her stuff enough to buy. The album's only $7.99 so I might bite.

Would definitely be interesting if it ended up with Wiig, Armisen, Sudeikis, and Elliott all leaving. If I were Abby I would stay with SNL though. With Wiig looking like a lock for leaving, she'd probably get a bigger role next season (and is already getting a bigger role this season)...where this Fox comedy would get cancelled in a month.
