As bad as she was, it was still a pretty good show. The cast really did a great job carrying it, and her.

Agreed. Good episode. Lohan struggled and wasn't very good. She seemed really uncomfortable in the "because this is real" (or whatever it's called) skit.

Kind of made me more impressed with Taylor Swifts performance on that skit.

Lohan seemed to care, like she really wanted to put on a good show. I seem to recall her always struggling with the cue cards. She stumbles a lot on her words.

Anyway, I think it was a good night for her. I don't want to be sympathetic to someone that threw their own career away, but I can applaud her for realizing it and wanting to do right.

She somehow also landed the role of Elizabeth Taylor in a tv movie about the actresses life.

Agreed. I cracked up during the Scared Straight skit when Hader and Sandberg lost it.

Maya Rudolph's from last week was much better, though.

Any chance of Jon Hamm hosting the March 24th episode? With Mad Men premiering that Sunday the 25th. I really like Jon, think he is great and it would be nice to see him host again!

            Agreed on Hamm.

With Hamm, Baldwin and Timberlake, I feel I'm forgetting a couple people that you know will always deliver a good show and seem to show up every year (even if they aren't the host). I guess Fey and Fallon (if he does it more often) would also fit the mold.

I'm at that point where I'd like to see SNL have about 15-20 go-to hosts every year and then fill the rest with people that could potentially replace a regular host who drops.

Would make booking the hosts easier too if they knew ahead of time when they'd be hosting. And if that schedule was out earlier they could also plan to drop sooner so SNL could fill the spot with someone that showed promise in a previous hosting gig.

Only problem is they'd surely give De Niro one of those spots and he's awful.

I forgot about JT... Always have liked him... Every SNL he's hosted has been really, really good.

He needs to come back soon and do another song with Samberg!!

Lindsay Lohan was all set to continue her obsession with Marilyn Monroe during last week's "Saturday Night Live" -- but a sketch featuring her and Jon Hamm was scrapped at the last minute ... TMZ has learned.

According to our sources, the sketch was to feature Lindsay as Marilyn and Hamm as JFK appearing to Rick Santorum (played by Andy Samberg) while he is at conservative event (see photo above).

During the sketch, Marilyn and JFK explain Marilyn was on birth control provided to her by Medicare, which causes Santorum to vomit uncontrollably. Santorum (the real one) recently said that JFK's speech from 1960 about keeping religion out of politics "makes [him] want to throw up."

In the end, we're told the sketch made it all the way to rehearsals, and was even performed in front of a live audience, but was ultimately cut because of time constraints.

                  Re: Saturday Night Live

I have a feeling Jon Hamm isn't going to host this season. He already appeared on SNL last week, Real Time with Bill Maher last night, Conan and Ellen last week. While he was out to promote Friends With Kids, I don't see him doing the media rounds again in the next couple of weeks to promote Mad Men.

I finally finished Live From New York by Tom Shales and James Andrew Miller (same authors of the ESPN Oral History book). The book is about 10 years old, but as a uber SNL fan, it's a must read. Outside of Eddie Murphy, every important member of SNL was interviewed. I loved all the behind the scenes information.

                    Re: Saturday Night Live

Though last night was pretty good.

Taran Killam as Rush Limbaugh was different...and hit-or-miss. He started to lose the impression as the sketch went on; but as someone that's tried to do a Rush impression it's a tough one to nail consistently so I'm not going to judge it off the first time. I thought he nailed the cadence though. Wish they would've done more than fake sponsors, but there's always next time.

                    Other stuff...
                    - "I'm six!" kid was funny again.
                    - J-Pop America Fun Time Now was better than last time with Anna Faris, though (as I think we've discussed before) they could do without the constant cutaways to Sudeikis' guy as the counter to the kids' portrayal of Japanese culture.
                    - Stefan was good. Hoombas.
                    - Liza Minnelli turning off a lamp was stupid, then for some reason funny.
                    - Digital Short was good because...well, obviously.
                    - Tom Hanks was great. Actually the whole monologue thing was, pre-tape and all.
                    - That Coolio thing was really random and I thought really hilarious. I'd bet it doesn't make Hulu due to using an actual song, though. (They shy away from that, right?)

I thought it was a pretty solid episode. Stefon always delivers and I liked the taped bit during Hill's monologue. Even the Coolio song at the end was pretty unique. It looks like Hill has already put back a lot of the weight that he lost.

Very interesting news. She doesn't look like a butch. I'm sure she is hoping for a Vogelchecks sketch, lol.

In other SNL news, Fox has dropped Abby Elliot from the pilot. She's going to be returning to SNL next season.

Also just purchased some books off Amazon:

Live from New York by Tom Shales & James Andrew Miller (VanCity, was it you that mentioned that you read it?)

Second City Unscripted by Mike Thomas

Both from different sellers, so I'll be expecting the Second City book on Tuesday and the SNL one on Wednesday. Can't wait.
