Matt Damon had a pretty good year last year with The Informant and Invictus.

Because it's pretty impossible to do. They'd have to work like 10 months out of the year.

"These days" acting is a different trait than it was in like the 50's or 60's, when guys could do a billion movies a year, since they'd shoot them in half the time, and give half the effort. Look at John Wayne, while he did many classic movies that I love and everything, the fact of the matter is they're all basically in the same boat, and he's playing the same guy in all of them. After guys like Brando and De Niro reinvented the whole idea of acting, actors devote far more time and effort to their roles.

I never did like Casino. Loved Heat though.

in that case I would have to throw Tom Hanks out there... in like a 7 month span both Philadelphia (December 93) and Forrest Gump (Summer 94) came out... (heck, Sleepless in Seattle came out Summer 93, and Apollo 13 came out in Summer of 95, so you could go a year and a half in either direction lol)

I thought maybe Costner had a good run in one year, but he had The Untouchables, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, Dances With Wolves, and JFK one year after the other from 87-91

Kevin Spacey in 1995 is definitely a contender with Se7en, The Usual Suspects, and Outbreak.

Cheadle in 2004 had Crash, Hotel Rwanda and 2 decent movies in After the Sunset and Ocean's Twelve.

Just about every year in the 90s Bruce Willis was putting out multiple damn entertaining movies. Obviously nothing great, but enjoyable flicks none the less.

What's the best single year for an actor in history? Meaning who had the best year ever in regards to multiple roles/movies in a single year (hopefully that makes sense).

The best one anyone could come up with, and you definitely have to enjoy his sense of humor:

Jim Carrey, 1994: Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Dumb and Dumber and The Mask.

              What else do we have?
First that popped into my mind.

Re: Best Year for an Actor...

Ok, I'm nored at work so I searched some random actors.

                  Charlie Sheen
                  1986
                  Lucas
                  Ferris Bueller's Day Off
                  Platoon

Sure those movies probably aren't as good as other but, I'll be damned if these movies aren't on just about every weekend.

                  Benicio del Toro
                  2000
                  Traffic
                  The Way of the Gun
                  Snatch

                  Casey Affleck
                  2007
                  Ocean's Thirteen
                  The Assassination of Jesse James
                  Gone Baby Gone

                  Owen Wilson
                  2001
                  Behind Enemy Lines
                  The Royal Tenenbaums
                  Zoolander

                  Tommy Lee Jones
                  1994
                  Blown Away
                  The Client
                  Natural Born Killers
                  Blue Sky
                  Cobb

That's all I've got for now.
