Ebay & Paypal
Just wondering everyone's thoughts on these two things. I've never personally used either but heard its a good cheap way to get games, books, etc. Has anyone ever run into any problems with Ebay'ing and their Paypal account?Favorite Teams:

Re: Ebay & Paypal
I have ordered a bunch of things from ebay using paypal, and have only had a problem once. I ordered GTAIV from some guy, and he never sent it. After two weeks I sent a complaint to ebay, and the charge was credited back to my account after a few weeks. That guy also ended up getting banned. Other than that, I have never run into any problems. -

Good w/ half.com too. Some guys tried to scam a bunch of people regarding a game. Reported it. Got reimbursed.
Only thing I don't like about Paypal is that they seem to now require your bank account. Then, when you go to pay for an item, they seem to push for paying out of that vs. a credit card. Easy to switch to the cc option, but if you miss it, they'll go to your bank acct.Comment

Re: Ebay & Paypal
Yes, my first time too. I opened up eBay and PayPal at the same time, but my PayPal account couldn't be confirmed with my bank still for a few days. Anyway, I put a couple of items up for auction, and one of them (LittleBigPlanet: GOTY Edition) got sold for around $45. Anyway, eBay put up some "actions" that had to be done for everything to run smoothly. The first available action said "Get Paid", so I waited until I got paid. Though it never actually showed up yet on PayPal (as I heard it takes a while to get it through officially), the next action that eventually popped up was "Print Shipping Labels", so I assumed that I had already been paid.
Anyway, I guess I hadn't been paid, and I had already shipped the item. Yes, I even paid for shipping as well, as I told him that I would. And I paid some insertion fee or something, I forget. I tried to contact the guy numerous times through e-mail, eBay, phone, etc. but the son of a bitch wouldn't ever respond.
That's the last time I use eBay. Not because I can't trust other people, but I am awful using and utilizing things online. I just don't like doing online stuff, ever. I much prefer retail. Easier to grab and return, and you get to see and encounter things and people physically. No credit cards, straight cash... easy.
But I still use PayPal.
EDIT: Maybe I should complain to eBay, but this was back in February. I wonder if they will redeem me since I can't even bring up the transaction in my history anymore and they would probably think I don't care that much if I waited this long. Re: Ebay & Paypal
They are both great imo. I have never had any problems and have been using Ebay to both buy and sell games for years. I buy all sorts of stuff on ebay though and have never had a problem.PSN: King10Sooted

Re: Ebay & Paypal
No problems with either service themselves. You have to be careful when buying used electronics on ebay though (or anywhere from that matter). If something doesn't work or arrive as advertised contact the seller quickly and get the process started.
In one of my first purchases, I let a seller drag on and on in trying to resolve an issue. By the time I filed with ebay and paypal it was too late. Lesson learned.
Personally, I love paypal. The insurance company had no problem recognizing and reimbursing paypal purchases when my apt. got broken into.Comment

Re: Ebay & Paypal
This is why I use a 2nd checking account that I keep a 0 balance in tied to Paypal. It only takes a couple minutes to do transfers between checking accounts when the need arises.
Probably a bit of overkill, but could save a larger headache later.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Ebay & Paypal
Nah snepp, Now that I think about it... I do the same thing. I have 3 accounts at my bank and my Paypal account is linked to the one that has the minimum balance of all of them. My bank actually suggested I do that. However, I've still yet had an issue.Last edited by Chef Matt; 09-30-2010, 10:54 PM.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon.
