    True Grit

This is going to be the new Coen brothers movie....with Josh Brolin, Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon.

Instant win right there, but the movie actually sounds, and looks, as good as the cast seems.

    Trailer and Synopsis here

Fourteen-year-old Mattie Ross's (Hailee Steinfeld) father has been shot in cold blood by the coward Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin), and she is determined to bring him to justice. Enlisting the help of a trigger-happy, drunken U.S. Marshal, Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges), she sets out with him -- over his objections -- to hunt down Chaney. Her father's blood demands that she pursue the criminal into Indian territory and find him before a Texas Ranger named LeBoeuf (Matt Damon) catches him and brings him back to Texas for the murder of another man.
Matt Damon looks like he'll have a good year with movies by Eastwood and the Coen Brothers.

I wonder if it will be as good as the original. Nice to see Matt getting back into movies.

Please no. Has Hollywood run out of ideas? No one can hold a candle to John Wayne and his work. I'll pass

Truthfully had no idea this was a remake...and since I've never seen, and will never see, the original...I'm pumped for this one.

I think this is going to be closer to the book than the John Wayne movie was.

And I hope T-Bone is producing the soundtrack for this.

            Oh come on man,

You owe it to yourself to see the original as it's consistently listed being among the top ten westerns of all time.

Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Well at least they're going to the source material. I will probably see this anyways. I didn't know the movie was based on a book though and will have to find it at the library or a used book dealer.

Truthfully, I'm not a huge Western fan - only really liked three or four of them.

Not to mention I don't think I've ever been a huge fan of a John Wayne movie - he's in the same category as Clint Eastwood for me: taste-wise, I probably SHOULD like their movies and I should enjoy all of them, but for some reason...I just don't.

So I'll pass on the original and not spoil this one for me at all.

How is that even possible? True Grit is one of the most famous westerns of all time. I wouldn't call it one of the best, per say, but it is insanely well known.

Fair enough, I understand what you're saying too as there are movies from some actors out there that I should LOVE but just doesn't really grab my attention.

As I said above - just not really a big western fan. Other than Unforgiven, Tombstone, 3:10 to Yuma......

****. I thought I could've thought of more, ha. Other than those three, it'd take me a few minutes of thinking to remember any of the others I've watched or heard of.

I love the time period and the mythology behind the time period, and I really should enjoy more western movies than I do...but for some reason I just don't.

This isn't based off of John Wayne's work. It's based off of the book.

This looks pretty good. I'm always down for a good western, and I love the Coens.

True Grit was alright, but I'll look forward to the remake, even though it will be tough for Matt Damon to fill Glen Campbell's boots.

Same here. I saw the trailer before Jackass and got chills at certain parts of it.

                              It should be amazing.
