I recently got a new power adapter, and even though its not an official HP one, it shouldn't be that. Probably the battery, right? Any chance that it's still charged up even though its displaying less?

Laptop Battery Not Charging Past 93%?
Hey guys, woke up today after a night my laptop was charged in, and it was at 88% only. Now, it's not charging past 93, 94% even though the thing is plugged in and the light is on. If I take the piece out and then put it back in, it will say its charging for a minute then stops again.

Re: Laptop Battery Not Charging Past 93%?
I haven't seen your specific issue before, but I've seen something like it where it can't charge past the current battery power status. So if yours was at 94% then went to 88% and you plugged in your battery, it wouldn't go higher than 88%.
I only noticed this problem on Vista, so if you have one (or even if you don't), try this very wonky solution which I know has worked with two of my friends, and then report back.
First, take out the charger and close your laptop so that it hibernates. After it hibernates, take out the battery on the bottom and plug your computer charger back in. Then open your laptop and log back into your computer. Then close the laptop, take out the charger, and put the battery back in. Finally, plug your computer back in.
Let me know if that one works, if you can follow it haha.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60 -
Re: Laptop Battery Not Charging Past 93%?
Gonna have to process that later, lmao.
It's still plugged in, says "not charging" but its stuck at 94%. Not going up or down. So, from the time I woke up til now, it went from 88% to 94%.
Maybe the battery display is just reading it wrong.

Yeah, I don't really know of your issue then. Hopefully yours and the one which I have experienced are related. So as long as you follow those strange instructions, I'm sure you might be able to resolve it.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Laptop Battery Not Charging Past 93%?
I tried a different outlet. No dice.
I actually accidentally unpluged the cord from the computer when I got up out of bed, percentage went down to 91% by the time I came back from the bathroom, but now it's back up to 94% and stalled. Says 94% (plugged in, not charging).
I let the battery drain very often, down to 15% or so. I don't want to do it now just in case I can't re-charge it. I'll wait to fully drain it when my new battery comes in the mail, so if I can't re-charge it then I can just pop the new one in.
Weird. Thoroughly weird.Comment

Re: Laptop Battery Not Charging Past 93%?
Nope, not yet. I have to break it down first.
1. Close lid without charger in, let it go on sleep.
2. Take out battery when its on sleep.
3. Put charger back in, wake the computer back up
4. Close lid to let it go on sleep, unplug charger, put battery back in, wake it up.
5. Plug it back in with the battery.
....right?Comment

On step 5, plug your computer in before you wake it up again, but yes.

Re: Laptop Battery Not Charging Past 93%?
Weird, I did those steps and it bumped up to 96% before going to "plugged in, not charging".Comment

Re: Laptop Battery Not Charging Past 93%?
If you drain the battery a few % does it charge then? Also, if you sleep or shut down the laptop, then plug it in, does it charge more?
I wonder if maybe the power supply is a little underpowered and the system is turning off charging the battery rather than risk underpowering the system.Comment

Re: Laptop Battery Not Charging Past 93%?
Seems like if it drains a little, it's able to charge up again. I put it to sleep last night before I slept, and woke up and it was still at 96%.
Oh well.Comment

Re: Laptop Battery Not Charging Past 93%?
I eventually got to 0%, Not Charging. Went to Best Buy, got a new battery, problem solved.
That was on Vista, too.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn
