Either way, it's a rip-off. Get it done by them for free, and that's only if you want to use that as a base or temporary solution. I actually asked them when they were here and they said they couldn't because the tv just came out, had no basis to go by.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Panasonic no longer making flat screen Plasma TVs.
Panasonic on Thursday killed off its line of plasma television sets. The official press release stated:
"...in order to create a business structure that can respond to changes in the business environment and to accelerate the growth strategy of the company, the company will end the production of plasma display panels (PDP) in December 2014 ..."
For months, Panasonic had been rumored to be halting its plasma screen production. It officially announced plans Thursday to end business operations at all of its plasma factories by March 2014.
Panasonic blamed a number of factors including one you might not have thought of:
"...with the rapid development of larger-screen LCDs, and facing the severe price competition in the global market brought on by Lehman Shock in September 2008, the company ... made a shift towards commercial applications and worked to improve the earnings of the business."Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I heard about that. I personally think they were one of the best looking plasma units out there from the beginning. Not sure what their reasoning is though. Are plasmas starting to dip in sales or something? I know they're alot cheaper now but I wouldn't think so.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I figure plasma sales are next to nothing. People still think you have to refill the plasma and if you leave it on a channel for more than 5 minutes the stations logo will be burned in forever. That plus they are considered bulky compared to LEDs.
I wonder how much current stock there is. I had been wanting to upgrade to a 60". Not sure if I should pull the trigger now or wait for a great deal. I hate this time of year, wanna buy now, but don't wanna see what you just bought for 40% off on Black Friday. I wouldn't be surprised if LG and Samsung weren't far behind.
Maybe Panasonic has something up their sleeves to make them the leader of the pack in LED.Last edited by SuperBowlNachos; 10-31-2013, 04:37 PM.Comment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
With most people watching/streaming stuff from phones and tablets, less and less people are buying TVs.
There should be a good runoff of the come Black Friday, Christmas and heading into the Super Bowl for those looking.
I think Panny is just trimming the fat and gearing up for OLEDs.Comment
