My set I game in now is STL very sharp looking especially when gaming. It's 55" and downsizing to a 50" may not make much sense, and especially with Christmas around the corner son know if blowing $500 is the right choice , also I sit about 10 maybe 11 Feet from my current 55" , so many articles I read sat that if our not sitting closer to the TV is maybe not matter at all. Now keep in mind I sit like I said about 10 feet away. I'm not going to alter my living to sit closer. So I know I get crazy over graphics, but do you guys think it makes much sense to go from 55" to a 50" knowing I sit 10 feet away.

I wouldn't, but that's just me. Crutchfield recommends a 80" for 10 feet away according to crutchfield while watching 4K.

If the $500 would stretch you even in the least, I definitely wouldn't recommend it. Truly not worth upgrading at all if you can't be fully comfortable.

Not trying to side track but you really don't want to get a large refund, just giving the government interest-free money throughout the year.

I hear ya. I think I'm just going to keep my eyes on black Friday. I think I can score a good deal then.

Seems to me that would require a ton of power...similar to a Plasma TV.

                Is that the case?

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Just installed the Bias Lighting on my set. Love the look. Excuse the patch holes above the tv. Took down my sound bar

I just bought my set back in February, this is the one I wanna replace with a 4k set. This is an LG 55" 1080p, still doesn't look that bad .

I have a 55 inch Samsung that I love. Will be loving it to another room when I pick up the 4K Samsung.

Just saw that haha. Nope, neighbors are going to have to deal with it.

Oh, I had many other one-liners to go to as well regarding its curves and inputs, but I'm sure you've spent many hours with it in the previous room so there's not too much more advice to give.

I really am excited to venture into TV shopping again, but I really have to wait out from LED being the only tech competitors are releasing against one another. OLED seems to be monopolized by LG, and Samsung is holding out till QLED becomes prominent from them. Until then... I just have to tell myself to sit and wait. The only exception is if I get a 4K monitor for my computer until then.

What's a good 55ish set for under 1k that would be "future proof" and good for multi-purpose (gaming, TV, movies)?
