Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Not only that but not all tvs will show HDR in its full potential.

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
The HDR is very apparent on the PS4 PRO not so much on the Stock PS4
But if you have a tv that is low end then you will not see what it should beComment

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Whats a good recommendation for a HDR tv then? Prefer 40ish inch.

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
I was just at Best Buy browsing for other stuff, and ventured into the Magnolia section. OLED kicks LED *** in every way that I could see, and that was before looking at the technologies themselves (meaning I looked at all of the images and said, "I really like that one above all else," and it was OLED). Too bad the large one was still $20,000. Just going to have to wait a while I suppose.
Then I wandered into the gaming section and saw an NBA 2K17 trailer in 4K and what appeared to be HDR-enabled by seeing some of the colors that I did. Not the "saturation" of them or anything, but rather what kinds of colors I was seeing. It was pretty stunning.
I wish there were 4K HDR monitors out there.Last edited by Blzer; 11-22-2016, 11:25 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Input lag for gaming is awful though

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
So I picked up the 8500 a few weeks ago and have been having this warm 2 struggle. I am going to stick it out for the next couple of weeks and see if I truly do "see the light." Overall I am absolutely loving this set though.I use warm 2 for everything...I use to be the cool color and dynamic color person before I tried movie and warm 2...I hated it for like the first 2 weeks and bounced back to the cool and standard modes that my eyeballs were use to..
Not until I got into videophile world that I start to tweak and tweak till it clicked and hired a pro calibrator who charged 400 to set up my old tv...He finished and I told him I hated it but he told me to stick it out and not change at all for 2 weeks...It was a tough 2 weeks but towards the end of the 2 weeks I started to not hate it or even care...He emailed me 3 weeks later and told me if I changed and I said no and that I did not bother anymore because i got use to it...So he told me to grab the remove and put on a movie. I did and he said change to cool and standard or dynamic mode...I tried and I was horrified at how horrible it looked. I switched back and forth and I hated the cool color. I can now see blue tinge even the slightest and I fix it...Warm 2 on the samsung along with movie mode or my mode which is Cal day and cal night is what my eyes love and I know that is what the producers intended to show....
Cant ever go back. When I put game mode on a new samsung set it defaults to cool or normal and I quickly change it to warm 2 and fix the 2 point gamma and color space and feel much better afterwards.
I did have a question... is there anyway to know how to go about setting up the 2pt white balance? Is the only option professional calibration? I know every set/personal set up is different, but I'm not even sure what the options are changing when I adjust them hahaComment

Wow dude. Just tried these settings while playing NBA 2K17. Stunning. I guess the color tone really does make a huge difference.

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
Buy Samsung KU6300, that's the 1 you want.
Even though it doesn't state it it does HDR in gaming mode as per ratings.com
The 4k Samsung KU6300 Series UHD LED TV doesn't have a stellar picture quality but is good enough for most content. It supports an HDR input, but it doesn't have...
Or jump on the Hinsense 50 inch which is going for $249.99 on black friday

Re: Plasma or LCD? - The TV Thread
That model is specific to Best Buy, and doesn't offer HDR in gaming. The 6300 supposedly does offer HDR in gaming
