My TV does not have 1080p.

My plasma screen does, but not my LCD.

So just to clarify.... To rank black levels would you say that this is true?

Ranking Black levels-

1. New Plasma
2. graying plasma
3. Led
4. LCD
5. DLP

Your not only answering my question but an entire office. The misinformation out there is staggering and we are trying to get our facts straight.

If you want the best black levels then plasmas will be what you are looking for. But not just any plasma, some are much better then others.

Second would be LED tv's but they have to be local dimming and not edge lit.

LCD and DLP are behind those.

There are a few LCD's which have great blacks as well

Any thoughts on this one? Picture looks great but haven't been able to try the 3D yet. I have another week left though before I can't return anymore. I got it during Best Buys Weekly deal program for 999.99. Came with the 3D Kit but it's on backorder.

For what you paid is a good deal for sure. The 3D is not the best of what is out but the price is to good to pass up.

Sky, you just bought that last week right......you have 30 days from purchase date to return and if you are a Reward Zone silver member you get 45 days.

The C680 like you saw on AVS is a good set for entry level 3D at 1080p. Have you tried any games or Blu-ray's on it yet? Do you feel like your getting that WOW factor still after 2 weeks? I do not think you will be disappointed at all with the C680.

I hope you get your glasses in soon to try out the TV to make sure the 3D is working fine.

I won't get into 3D until they make them that you have no need for those dumb glasses.

I believe that LG has the first one coming next year or this year. Not sure

I don't have one, but at this point it is more future-proofing than anything else. Very little content out right now.

3D Tvs are also going to have excellent 2D picture even if you never use the 3D.

Depends. I don't use it for EVERYTHING. I do use it for 3D movies though...and have tried it out on a few movies using the 2D to 3D converter. I think the 3D picture is really cool and have no problem at all with the glasses. Too many people worry about what they look like in those glasses, but they're sitting at home! Who cares? I wouldn't even care if I had to wear them out to watch something...I'm not concerned with what other people think. Plus, the one's I have are pretty comfortable. OK, I'm off my soapbox now...

Forgot to mention, I've also tried it for CoD: Black Ops which was really cool. I wanted to download the MLB: The Show 2010 3D demo, but it's not longer available. I'll have to test 2011 when it comes out. Might be cool...might suck. Never know.

I won't get into 3D until they make them that you have no need for those dumb glasses.

I believe that LG has the first one coming next year or this year. Not sure

The biggest problem with this is going to be price/size/viewing distance. With the room I have, anything below 60" is too small. If a 20" glasses free 3D Toshiba is selling for $2900 (or thereabouts), what is a 60"+ going to cost? Of course, the price will go down in time, but I don't see that happening for 3-5 years.


Here's other food for thought. According to Engadget, the 2D is a "messy blur" on glasses free 3D sets. Something in the processing engine that is hurting the 2D engine. I can't find the article I was reading on this right now, but there was one out there around the time of CES. They also said that the viewing angles are very poor...you have to be straight on. Although I'm sure that will be with any 3D content. I can adjust the angle on my set, but everyone watching would have to watch from that angle.

Back in the beginning of January, I purchased a 55" Vizio XVT553SV. Unbelieveable picture (I honestly don't think I've ever seen better), however I've had a couple issues with it. On a cold start, the picture is a little distorted but clears up within a minute. In addition, there's a little blooming, but it's not a deal breaker.

The deal breaker is the price. It's actully really affordable and was voted CNET's best LED of 2010. Still, it cost me around $1800 with tax. For some, that wouldn't seem like a lot of money, but with today's falling prices, it seems high to me. I look daily to see if the price will drop, and so far it hasn't. So, now I'm contemplating bringing it back and purchasing a lesser expensive hdtv. Additionally, I miss that "man cave" viewing in the basement I had with my 42" Vizio. The way in which our house is set up is that the kitchen and family room is open with no walls. When I watch sports, the kids and wife are always there. When I watch movies at night, I have to make sure the sound is turned down as to not wake the kids sleeping above the family room. I just feel I'm not getting the most out of my investment considering.

Most of my tv viewing is done during the evening, so now I'm thinking perhaps the following Panasonic plasma model would be better suited. Not to mention, it would save me around $800.

Or perhaps the 55" LG LD520 for $1279, which would account for a $400 savings. Is 120 vs. 240HZ that noticeable? I think my 42" 60HZ in the basement looks great.....

Would bringing up the 42" Vizio to the family room in which the furthest distance is 15 feet (and the average being 9 feet) look strange? I in turn would purchase the Panasonic plasma for the basement.

I'd appreciate some thoughts about this.

You cannot go wrong with Panny after the year 2009, they have the best plasmas around and this tv for that price is excellent.

Excellent black levels and great color accuracy. Only 3 HDMI and 2 of those are in the back one on the side

PC input does not support 1080p which sucks for those that want to use their lap tops on it but no biggie for most

For gaming is great with no little input lag

Also it is not a thin model which I hate

The LG is excellent

But I would stick with the Vizio since you cannot make up those 5 inches. It is a big deal but if money is an issue then go for the Panny, great set
