But it is all personal preference and how much space you have. If you have a large living room like I do, DLP all the way. If it is in the basement or other dark room, Plasma. If you want to plug it in and not worry about anything, LCD.

LCD prices have come wayyyyyyyyyyy down since last year, they not that pricey anymore.
I have a dlp now and i can't wait to get rid of it!, there's always something going on, got to change the lamp or one of the fans are busted I don't want anything to do with that anymore. I have a samsung dls5087w

TV speakers are crap in general, LEDs are gonna be worse than usual b/c they have nowhere to put them. A soundbar/sub or surround sound sytem is always going to be better.

LED's are overpriced just b/c they are the next big thing. The price will go down b/c it will be the standard from here on out. Manufactures are moving away from the CCFL LCDs. It's basically a thinner, worry-free plasma. It's the closest black levels you get to plasma blacks.

This is assuming you get a fully backlit LED and not an edge lit LED.

But still a 73" 1080p DLP for $1500 would be hard to walk away from if you had the space. You'd have to go with a projector if you wanted a bigger picture in that price range.

For the Plasma users. Has Panasonic addressed the black issue with this years models?

And if yes, should I consider that for a Plasma say compared to the Samsung models?

Panasonic says yes, no way of knowing for sure til these sets get older. Haven't seen any rising black level complaints for 10 models.

Panasonic is always the starting point for plasmas. Since Pioneer dropped out it left Panasonic the clear #1

Don't think Samsung or LG would be bad second options if you are hesitant on going Panasonic.

What do you mean by starting point?

I assumed they were basically the "top dog" now for picture quality on plasma, since they purchased Pioneer's tech for the panels.

This years model does not use any KURO Tech. As for the Rising Blacks Panny won't publicly say this years model blacks will rise eventually over time. What's been heard from insiders is it will take longer within this years models compared to last years models for the blacks to rise

                    I see.

So would they be considered the best plasma you can get now? Or has someone else put their hat in the ring?

Still Panasonic > Samsung > LG

I personally wouldn't buy a plasma from anyone other than these 3.

They're considered the BEST Plasma on the market because right now they are, but the competition is closing on fast. The rising of blacks is dependent on much you use your set. If your running your set 8-10 hours a day, the blacks will rise faster. The less you run you set the longer it will take.

After some serious thought, I am planning to go with either the Samsung LN55C630 or Sony Bravia KDL55EX500 LCD's. Both LCD's caught our eyes when looking around at various stores over the weekend. The LG 55LD520 55" LCD is coming in as a close third. The Samsung out of all 3 had the best picture from vivid colors. pop, and detail. If I can get one of these for $200-$300 less than the Sammy, I may go for it as CompUSA had the Sony for $1199, but the price has gone back up.

Are Samsungs the best for LCD's?

I picked up my 3D LED today, took it to our new house, and left it for the week

I did get to see it and play it a little more in the store and it was slick. Got to play with it for around 45 minutes or so, while they went through the warehouse, got my bluray player, glasses, misc etc. Talking to all of the salespeople, they actually all prefer the LG over the others that they have in the store. I actually opted today for the 55" over the 47" at the wife's encouragement. (This was of course after a shopping spree through Garden Ridge for some Home Decor, so she owed me lol)

I dont' have extensive experience with it, but it's one of the nicer looking 3D sets that I see out there, as well as a beautiful 2D pic too.
