    Cancellations :(

3 of the new shows that started this season that I particularly liked are alreadycircling the drain or canceled

    Outlaw with Jimmy Smits- canceled
    The Whole Truth - Canceled
The Defenders- Most sites have it not surviving.

It saddens me that these shows get canceled while America eats up a bunch of former Entertainment and Sports stars trying to dance, or a bunch of arrogant Jersey Shore meatheads try to get laid.

Personally I watch TV and play Video games to escape how crappy reality is. I'd much rather be entertained by good drama and acting than this other crap.

HBO has it right. Look at the shows they produce. They are virtually ALL hits. They tell a good story and keep the viewer hooked.

I'm done, got it out of my system. I'll get off my tv soapbox now.

I hear ya, I go through this every year it seems. Im still pissed about The Black Donnelys, and if we want to go even further, I dont think Ill ever get over them canceling The Fugitive. Unfortunately the reality stuff is here to stay as its so cheap to film, or so Im told.

HBO is definitely where it's at. They'll give most new shows a chance, even if they struggle in ratings. They kept the Wire on for all those years, just because of how outstanding it was.

I'd say stay away from NBC shows, I wouldn't even bother following a show on that network, since they cancel EVERYTHING. Worst run network in the business.

Community is on pretty strong footing with them, it just had an increased episode order from 22 to 24 despite getting whooped in the ratings by a far worse show.

I actually don't think that's true. Community's still there, despite relatively crappy ratings, 30 Rock had horrible ratings in it's beginning stages and somehow survived, Chuck has inexplicably (but thankfully) survived horrible ratings to somehow get into it's 4th season.

Frankly, I think they might be the most forgiving network because they can't expect all that much.

Sucks to hear The Defenders is going to be canceled. I liked what I saw of that show. It was a bit quirky but fun. We need more FUN shows on TV damnit!

I still don't know how they let heroes run for as long as they did...but their shows are prob the most I watch now. Chuck, community, office, 30 rock. Fox on the other hand...they're terrible w cancellations

Agreed. Arrested Development was an Emmy award winner and they cancelled it. They also cancelled Family Guy and Futurama, which eventually came back. Sarah Connor Chronicles was another good show that they stuck in a crummy time slot and ended up cancelling.

Fox gave Arrested Development 3 years. I love that show, but even I can't be mad because they gave it ample time to find an audience and for whatever reason it just didn't. Shows like that die, Two and a Half Men lives on. I don't get it.

They did the same thing to Firefly. Probably my favorite network TV show in years. Travesty it was cancelled.

BTW, HBO doesn't always get it right, see the timing and handling of the cancellation of Deadwood.

Yeah, Firefly was a huge one...great show, should never have been canceled.

Pushing Daisies got screwed by the strike...got the hook too fast IMO, was a good show...

That was a big mess, though. It was too over-budgeted (keep in mind most HBO shows have the budget of a motion picture) and Milch/McShane were having some kind of off-screen feud. I wouldn't blame HBO for the cancellation outcome, but yeah, the handling of it was terrible. Just letting it end the way it did? Awful. They should have did the finale-movies that they were talking about. Deadwood will forever remain an unfinished masterpiece.

This is why I wait to start watching shows until their third season. Cause I hate getting hooked on a new show and then bam they cancel it. I just rent the season set from netflix and catch up once I know the show will survive.
