    Laptop intercoolers / fans

My laptop has a tendency to heat with the way the fan is located, so I'm looking to get a pad on the bottom or something to help it out. How expensive are these? Any good ones in particular?

If it matters, I have a 17.3" HP notebook.

Only thing I'm concerned about is that my battery sticks out. Will it still fit underneath okay?

Yeah, I think the Blu-ray drive has a lot to do with it. No matter, I love the size of the screen.

I have a very similar HP laptop w/ blu ray drive.

I got this one for $15 a year ago: http://www.amazon.com/Targus-PA248U-...1157026&sr=8-4

Works just fine. Not sure I'd put a ton of money in these when they all are pretty much the same. 2 or 3 fans running on USB.

I've bought like 5 cooling pads over the years because they're almost all built like ****. The most recent one I have, a metal one from Antec that looks like a cheese grater, the cable got screwed up and I had to get a new one for it.

Hard to say without seeing your laptop. The cooler has 4 little rubber things on the corners that elevate your laptop maybe 2/8 of an inch off the board. It runs off USB power.

Interesting. I'll see what I can do about providing you a picture or something.

EDIT: Looks like it would be a bit too big, with the battery sticking out at least. I guess forget about it then.

You just put your laptop on top of them, there isn't anything to big for them. You don't attach it or anything like that.

All I meant was it wouldn't lie flush against the grate panel, so I wasn't sure if it would be efficient in actually cooling down my computer.

All these things do is blow air, it's not a heatsink, butting directly against the case would reduce the effectiveness.
