    Real - Steel (Robot Boxing)

Every day Idiocracy gets closer and closer to reality:

It makes me wonder when "Ow! My B@lls!" is coming to theatres.

Amen. If I wanted to watch robots beat the hell out of each other, I'll just watch Transformers thanks.

Here's the one reason I'm intrigued:

This is NOT based on Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots or whatever that's called, despite many people believing so.

It's actually based on Richard Matheson's short story "Steel" which was adapted into a Twilight Zone episode of the same name in which a former human boxer turned promoter poses as his malfunctioning robot boxer in order to collect the prize money to fix said robot.

Richard Matheson is the same man that brought the world "I Am Legend," "What Dreams May Come," and the famoust Twilight Zone episode "Nightmare at 20,000 feet."

Obviously, he isn't writing the script to this upcoming film, but it sounds more intriguing knowing it's based on his story rather than the toys.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

OK, sold me. LOL. I might not run out into the theaters to see this one, but I will make sure to catch it at some point.
