The big question is, how much will TV's cost without glasses? I read an article that said Toshiba was selling their 21" at $2800. That's $300 less than I bought a 63" with glasses. So, what are the 40-50" going to cost....let alone something over 60"? It's an interesting time, that's for sure. Personally, I have no problem with the glasses even though they look dorky (which remains in my house with only my wife so I don't care how I look ).

True, but we all know how fast prices drop in the world of electronics. But I do agree with you. I also want to know how good the quality is, I've read some reports where you have to be straight on and the quality isn't 1080P.

Many people haven't mentioned this yet, but I've also read a few reports stating that the 3DTV's that do not need glasses also are very poor in terms of 2D PQ. The reports stated that everyone is obviously looking at these with 3D enabled and haven't dug into the 2D PQ yet and is likely why it has not been reported/discussed. Makes sense to me...but I'm sure it's something that will take time to tweak.

How does it even work? I mean are there hologram artifacts sticking out of the screen, or is it a depth perception illusion on a two-dimensional image?

Yeah, I'd like to know how it all works out. As of right now my 2D 1080p picture looks fantastic and I'm not all that excited about 3D. At least until a few years down the road so they can iron out all the kinks. I think it's all just too hyped up right now and everyone is trying to make money off the 3D buzz.

3d auto-stereocopic screens work just like the nintendo 3ds. It's just that it's more expensive to make them at the sizes home HDTV's require. With larger home theater screens, the problem of viewing angles is apparent and the 3d quality is worse than the kind you get with glasses, at the moment.

Still, this stuff is only right around the corner and will only get better and cheaper.

Every company is on board, and all have products in 3D. It is not going anywhere now, and will soon be a staple feature.

The tv technology is always changing now. I have a nice tv, but now I want a LED. Then next year I will want some better one.

While I don't doubt the life span of 3D, right now not enough content warrants the need of it. While at my parents for Christmas I got to see Bulls/Knicks and also did some Show 10 demo and GT 5 in 3D. Yeah it looks cool but I'll pass until the price drops by a significant margin, or we get more 24/7 3D broadcasts

Looking forward to learning more about LG's Nano tech on their local dimming LED's.

Nobody else has anything of merit in terms of improved PQ. Samsung and Sony are content with releasing their never ending line of Edge-Lit tvs. Nothing on the plasma side stands out compared to 2010. The Panny VT30 looks like a minor upgrade at best.

All in all, pretty underwhelming for me.
