For me it's kind of the final straw. I have the Storm 2 and I was pretty ticked off at Verizon about 2 months into my current contract because they struck a deal where non android phones could only use Bing as their default search engine. There isn't an option to change it either, I have to run a separate app to use anything other than bing. That was kind of upsetting considering I was 2 months into a 2 year contract and they decide something that becomes an inconvenience for me that I was not expecting.

Then there was their decision to go away from unlimited data usage.

I'm already kind of tired spending almost a hundred dollars a month for phone service. Now on top of all of this Verizon isn't even going to offer a customer loyalty program?

Since when did Verizon move away from unlimited data?

You're right. I hadn't looked at this since the original announcement several months ago after AT&T did it, but I just googled it and looks like there was a big enough outcry where Verizon decided to keep their current unlimited plan as is and offer a more affordable lower tiered plan.

I agree. Of course this is coming from someone who has had Sprint and T-Mobile in the past and the coverage was terrible.

Meh, it sucks but, I've had Verizon since I first had a cell phone. I've always liked them so it's really not worth it to me to leave them over what is essentially, around $4 a month (if you average out your savings for the 24 months).

I don't care about the new every 2, I never used it anyway. I hate the losing the ability to get a new phone yearly as I have the last few years. I mean, obviously I still can, but I go from paying promotional pricing to paying 600-700 bucks for a phone.

Really, this is going to push people away from a phone company?

Verizon's coverage is what keeps me with them. I've never understood people who see cell phones as a status symbol. I laugh at people who buy these mobile pc's as cell phones and then break them when the fickle phones fall out of their pocket or get dropped in water. Mine doesn't have a million apps on it, but it has withstood a fall from a 2nd floor window and it's virtually water proof.

It defintely does suck. I've heard that this might not just be Verizon though, as you'll see more and more companies do this.

Hopefully, they will have some decent sales to make up for it. I'm not really a big "phone guy". Meaning that I don't have to have the newest "big thing" as soon as it's released. Honestly, I didn't even use my New Every Two when I got my Motorola Droid. However, I waited until the Droid was out for 3-4 months then, I saw that they had a BOGO sale so, I took advantage of that. I ended up buying a Droid for both me and my girlfriend and only paid $150. So like I said, hopefully they still have some good sales.

They break too easily and are too bulky.

Smart phones are hardly status symbols. I'm only a college student but I make so much use of the functions on the smart phones I've had. I think toy would be a more accurate term. Kind of like how I like having upgraded computers to run new games and stuff. Hardly anyone sees my computer, I get the upgrades for me.

I rave about Verizon's coverage to everyone, and it's the reason I have them right now despite the cost. You can't blame anyone from being a little put off by a company stopping a customer loyalty program though, and for me it's a combination of things (even with them keeping the unlimited packages)
