    B & N Nook or Kindle

Hey guys I have been comparing the Nook (150.00) and Kindle (140.00). I would like to know your opinions if you have had experience with either.

At the moment I am leaning towards the Nook:
    *ebook local library checkouts
*local Barnes & Noble stores nearby
    *additional storage through sd card
*free books and perks through B & N's
*I have heard the software is more flexible than the Kindle

Your input will be invaluable. Being specific would really help me narrow down my choice. It will be a birthday present for me.

I chose the Kindle and haven't put it down since my wife picked it up for me at Christmas. I just wanted a "pure" reader, without the fluff (I have a PC, a smartphone, etc, so I don't need apps), and I like the e-ink as opposed to a backlit LCD screen as I get eye strain. The extra battery life is nice too. The only accessory I have is the Amazon leather cover w/ light and it works great.

We have a Kindle, love it. The Nook just didn't appeal to me.

I don't have any experience with the Nook, but the Kindle is very good for what you need it to do. Cosign on the e-ink opinion as well, I was pleasantly surprised with how nice that screen is to read over an extended period of time. It's definitely a nice change of pace from staring at LCD screens 10 hours (or more) a day.

To me, free library books make the nook the easy choice, although at this point selection seems to be limited. I periodically check the nashville library selection and there just aren't enough to justify the expense for me. Once there is a more robust selection, I'll be getting a nook.

Check out your local library's ebook selection before you decide, if free rentals are important. There are some free e-books that I believe work on the kindle and nook, but as far as I can tell the current library requires the nook

One of my friends got the Nook and 6 of them got the Kindle. They all seem very happy with it. So to me you can't wrong with either one.

Nook color would be nice for magazines, periodicals, and kids books, but there is the eye strain and the battery only lasts up to 8 hrs.

First gen Nook has e-Ink, and a full color bottom for the books. Battery life is 7-10 days but I do like that it uses the ePub file.

Kindle does have the best battery life at almost a month without a recharge, but the file it uses may be out of date.

Guys thank you so much for your input, but I have finally made my decision. I have decided to go with the Nook and will give some impressions in the future.
