    Heavy Rain: The Movie?

    Might be a possibility

Heavy Rain is an acclaimed videogame, one that its fans and critics both acknowledge as a cut-scene heavy, practically interactive movie. Suffice to say, making an actual movie of it seems redundant at best.

David Milch is the creator of my favorite TV series of all time, Deadwood, as well as several other acclaimed shows, including NYPD Blue.

Why do I mention these two facts? Because David Milch has signed on to write the screenplay for the Heavy Rain movie.

This is amazing. This is also the best chance a movie based on a videogame has ever had at making a real impact on Hollywood culture. If this happens, and it works out -- and given Heavy Rain's thriller-friendly story about four people chasing a serial killer and Milch's considerable talents, I don't know why it wouldn't -- it could honestly change everything regarding all future videogame movies. Where they won't always be given crap budgets and nth-tier directors. Where they won't always be made for audiences of the lowest common denominator. This could be the start of something big. Sure, maybe I'm wrong, but at the very least, it should end up being the first truly great videogame movie -- which is plenty big on its own.
As the guy said it sounds a little redundant but if this does get on the big screen it could lead to a redefining of the videogame movie subgenre.

I will believe it when I see it. Over the past few years it has been many high possibility game related movies, that never was made beyond the idea room.

I'm still on the fence as to if I should purchase the game or not...

Maybe the voice acting will be better this time.

HR was my favorite game of 2010. I advise you to go out and get it immediately.

As for the movie, I think it could be done because IIRC there hasn't been any other video game movies like it. I mean, sure they have the Resident Evil, Doom, Max Payne movies but, all of those have supernatural creatures or super human characters. HR doesn't have any of that. All of it's characters are real people. To me it was similar to the movie se7en except, as a video game. So, I think it could be good if done correctly.

Sin City in reality and color?

Again, like Uncharted, the novelty for the game was the fact that it was a video game that accomplished what it did. They can release the movie and it might be a fine movie with an indeed bad-*** title, but I don't see it bringing anything new to the table if that's what they're going for.

If it's done they could use noir type filming techniques what with the rain coming down all throughout the film. That could lend itself to interesting camera angles all by itself.

I love both HR and UC2. They're probably my two favorite video games ever. However, I think the plot of HR is more movie-like than UC2. That's why I think that it may have a chance.

Yeah, I suppose the fact that it's "always raining" would be a nice little character to the movie itself, kind of like it always being daylight in Insomnia. Of course, I think Se7en nearly had that feeling already (which I believe someone brought up earlier as an example already).

I'm not saying I wouldn't watch this movie, I'm just saying that this movie can appeal without the video game but the game's appeal comes from the movie-like feeling it already has, like you're actually playing out a movie on its own (but has multiple routes to take).

So who do you guys think would be the best actor to play the four main characters?

Ethan Mars: 1st choice: Sam Rockwell or 2nd choice: David Duchovny (I think he could probably play either Ethan or Norman)

                    Norman Jayden: 1st: Casey Afleck

Scott Shelby: Sam Douglas- Same actor who did the voice work in the video game. (this is the one that I'm the most sure about)

                    Madison Paige: Kiera Knightly

Carter Blake: Alfred Molina or the guy who plays Angel Batista on Dexter
