I haven't watched it the past 3 or 4 weeks. Whenever they took that break from showing new episodes I never jumped back in. I actually have the episodes sitting on my DVR, but haven't had the urge to watch them. If there's one thing they should have done differently it would have been to cast someone else as the female police commissioner. She was by far the weak point of the show.

From what I've read, FOX execs liked it and it was just a business decision. Same with Lie to Me, as well.
"Good" news is, the rest of this seasons episodes will air and the producer (or director, I forget) said that things will wrap up nicely for fans.
Sucks, because this was one of my favorites, but I understand how this business works. Can't keep a show going, no matter how good, if the viewers (aka money) aren't there.Comment

Re: The Chicago Code
I was so pissed when I heard that it got canceled that I had not watched the last two episodes. I finally got around to it today. It ended about as well as could be expected. I see the plot lines that they left open for the second season.SpoilerNamely Gibbons' trial, and Jerek's brother's evidence.
One other thought of mine.
SpoilerThe use of Gibbons' assistant to Murder the Mob boss seemed a reach to me. Guy had just turned states evidence against not only Gibbons' but the Irish Mod and he doesn't wear a vest into court? Reason enough right there to "fire" the superintendent.
I'm going to miss this show. Haven't really been into Cop shows since The Wire went off the air, but this show for being on network television had drawn me in. Really mad it is off the air. I will have to support it and but the DVD when released. I guess I could give the shield a try.Moderator

Re: The Chicago Code
Yeah, Shawn Ryan was on his game with The Shield for sure.
I really enjoyed the finale by the way. The Jarek character really gets some serious payoff that I did not expect in the finale, and Gibbons is just awesome to the end.
It pains me that there will not be a second season, but much like with Terriers and Lights Out (two other shows I bought into this year but won't be returning), it was a good finale that wrapped some things up.
Terriers, though, is still the series I am most upset about being canned during the last year. It was soooooooo good and deserved so much better.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update).
