    Direct TV

Does anyone know how to access the Direct TV on demand stuff? We got the service a couple of months ago, but I've never really explored it. The commercials say you have free access to thousands of TV shows and movies. We have the box that lets you do it, but I don't see anything except the PPV movies on the guide.

Do you have to be connected to the internet?

Or do you just get free access, but then have to pay to watch a show? I'm talking stuff like the latest episode of The Office, even my parents crappy cable company gives you all of that for free.

Yeah you have to have the receiver connected to the Internet and go through a setup once it's connected

      Re: Direct TV

You have to have a HD DVR receiver that's connected to the internet via either ethernet cable or wireless unit (available through DTV or other outlets like Best Buy)...

You have to follow the install instructions on the DTV site to make sure it's got an internet signal connection...

The programing guide may take up to 24 hours to update, but when it does the on demand offerings will be around channel 1000 or 1100...

If you have any problems, tech support at DTV is really good about walking you though these steps...

        Re: Direct TV

You can browse it by going to the menu and then Cimena on demand or something like that. You can also look at each channel, it starts at 1000 and each channel like ESPN 206 would be 1206 if ESPN was available.

Then you can look by channel, genre, etc. You have to have that channel though to be able to view it. For some stupid reason, you can't limit it or search by only the free or stuff that is available to you.

I guess I will call tomorrow. I read something on google about how if you have Whole Home then you have to hook it up to the hub that connects the entire house. Luckily we know the guy well who installed it for us so I can always call a tech and have him their that day.

            its junk.
cables on demand service is much better,
if you dont have cable youre better off getting netflix and streaming for your on demand needs.
