Well, this failed for me. I loved the sound, but just couldn't get used to wearing headphones. The X41's sounded great, just after about an hour they were very uncomfortable (for me).

So I took them back and got a sound bar instead.

Which soundbar did you go with?

Went with the Vizio one. VSB210WS.

Seems the VHT210WS had poor reviews, but that one had good ones. Just been playing with it for an hour or so. It won't fool you that you have surround sound, but I think it sounds really good.

I've been thinking about getting a sound bar for our living room. No room for surround sound, but wireless subwoofer has me very interested.

The Sony CT150 is usually regarded as the best sounding sound bar + wireless sub combo under $500 (it's actually less than $300). Unlike the Vizio, the Sony setup uses HDMI which would gives you lossless audio instead of just Dolby Digital.

That one didn't work for me at all though, which is why I avoided it. All the connections are to the subwoofer, nothing is wireless, and the subwoofer has to be in line of sight for the remote to work. Hearing it at Best Buy, I thought both the Boston Acoustics TVee 20 and the Polk 3000 series blew it away.

When I get into Marathon gaming sessions, the X41s do become pretty uncomfortable. Thing Is I rarely play games for longer than 2 hours at a time so its not really an issue. I personally do not think Surround sound Headphones are a replacement for Surround sound, you really cannot replicate true 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound. I use my Surround sound when I am not talking with other people, the headphones come on at night or when I am in a multiplayer game.

                  Re: Wireless 5.1 Headphones

                  Okay, update time!

I picked up a Astro Mixamp 5.8 (wireless) and a pair of Sennsheiser 555's and connected them to my television via the optical cable. The "bad" news first...

My television does not act as a pass-through for Dolby Digital signals. So, despite the fact my 360 and cable box are connected via HDMI, I only receive non-compressed stereo signal.

Now, the good news; it still sounds absolutely amazing and destroys my wireless Sennsheiser HD130's. Thumping bass, clear vocals and absolutely no wireless hiss.

I do plan to upgrade my setup; I ordered the dongle to connect my 360 to the Mixamp via optical able while still running the HDMI cable to my television. Once I do that, I will get a better sense of the Mixamp's performance with 5.1 or 7.1 sources.
