    HBO Miniseries "To Appomattox"

This will be an 8 part miniseries that the above site describes as "Band of Brothers meets John Adams". Production is scheduled to begin this spring.

More info courtesy of one of the screenwiters/producers can be found here:

"The series will be something similar to BAND OF BROS meets JOHN ADAMS. What I mean by that is each episode will by primarily character drama (a la ADAMS) with about 15-20 mins battle (BoB). The reason is that full accuracy will be dramatized in the battle sequences and by virtue of the carnage even 15 mins will be difficult to watch.

The dramatic "spine" if you will is Grant's memoir--the 8 episodes begin with his entry to West Point and proceed through his funeral. That, however, makes up a "half" of the portrayed action. The other half is the war in the East before Grant arrives."
    I'm sooooo there.

My understanding is that it will be, but that it's a long way off (a year or more).

Grant's personal story is a great one. Humble beginnings and overcoming set back after set back and then to rise to the top. His memoirs are very readable. A definite must watch.

I was always hoping the American Civil War would be recreated through an HBO mini-series as I loved Band Of Brothers & The Pacific.

The civil war started 150 years ago, so I'm hoping that more civil war series/shows are made.

I can't wait to see this series, loved Band of Brothers, the Pacific, and John Adams.
