Favorite Albums to Listen to All the Way Through

    And why?

    Mine are

Mewithoutyou - A to B Life - An interesting kind of alt rock. Really heavy guitars and the singer has a voice that is in between a pitched shout and a scream. The lyrics are very poetic and just generally amazing.

More Than Life - Love Let Me Go - An all out onslaught of newer screamo. A fairly short album that has very fast and aggressive music. The screams are some of the better screams at communicating emotion. It comes off as a distraught shout. The guitars are usually heavy but they also get very melodic at times to set the mood.

Closure in Moscow - First Temple - A pretty awesome math rock album. Guitars are very technical and melodic as expected though they do get heavier for choruses and intros. The singer has one of the best voices I've heard.

Meet Me In St. Louis - Variations On Swing - Math rock again. Very melodic guitars as on the closure in moscow album but this time they're more focused on rhythm. Vocals aren't the best but fit with the music very well.

Muse - Showbiz - I don't think this needs much of a description. Matthew Bellamy is awesome.

Everyone Everywhere - Self Titled - A more modern take on 90s emo. Math rock influences so it's kind of spacey with melodic guitars but the vocals have that nice unproduced feel to them and they sound great.

This Town Needs Guns - Animals - Math rock again. The drums really shine on this album. The guitars are used for rhythm and setting a melodic scene. Vocals are smooth and sound similar to that of minus the bear.

The Receiving End of Sirens - Between the Heart and the Synapse - 3 guitarists. 3 vocalists. Nuff Said. The guitars make a massive wall of sound while the vocalists tag in and out or deliver multiple separate vocal parts at the same time that go together. Occasionally they'll do a nice 3 part harmony

Black Stone Cherry - Folklore & Superstition - I love the dynamic of the album. You have the standard songs like "Blind Man" and "Soulcreek". Then you have power ballads like "Peace Is Free" and "Please Come In". Then, they hit with you 2 incredible songs in "You" and "Things My Father Said". I loved the different sounds and sides you saw of the band in this album. One of the best sophomore albums out there along with..

Breaking Benjamin - We Are Not Alone - I bought this album a week after it dropped. I liked a few of the songs a lot after the first few months but that was it. Then the more I've listened to it, the more songs I grew to like. Now I put it on during a road trip and have to hear it all the way through. It's such a good album I couldn't even pick a favorite song. Several of them would be in contention and really it would depend on my mood as to which I would pick. "So Cold" is a classic though and maybe the definitive BB song to me.

Breaking Benjamin - Dear Agony - I seriously counted down the days until this album's release. It rivaled the release of NCAA Football that year in terms of my level of anticipation. And damn, did it ever deliver. The first song on the album is outstanding and classic BB. The guitar to start the song and then Ben's one liner fading in and out. The 2nd song was "I Will Not Bow" and it was a decent single for mainstream, but not even top 5 on the album to me. 3rd song of the CD is the title track and when you know the backstory, this song is incredible. The lyrics are very powerful and the sound is BB. I'll cut this short because I could go on for awhile describing this album..

Dave Matthews Band - Under the Table and Dreaming - A lot of people say this album is overrated, but I'm not one of them. It's the kind of album you can listen to when you're either in a good mood or a chill mood. The mainstream songs are solid(Best of What's Around Ants Marching, Satellite) but the other songs really make this album a great listen. I love "Six Feet Under" for its uptempo and the intro is great. "#34" and "Lover Lay Down" and mellow tracks that you just cruise down the road and let traffic pass you by when listening.

The Dream - Love King - I started to put LoveHate, but went with this one instead. Per usual, it's an album all about females and sex. "F.I.L.A" is great because the chorus is solid and the song title is a play off the saying Forever I Love Atlanta. "Take Care Of Me" is a great song because it's a deep(talking about sound..not lyrics) song and it flips the script on relationships. By far the best song to me though is "Turnt Out". ****ing love this song. 298 plays on my iTunes so far. Anytime I want an R&B to put on, I listen Love King and listen to the whole thing.

Lupe Fiasco - Food & Liquor - The wordplay, razor-sharp lyricism, and level of consciousness on this album are insane. He blends it all seamlessly while spinning poignant narratives. From "Intro" to "Outro" I can't skip a track on this album. I will pick up on things to this day that I missed before because his fluid stream of rhymes hits so rapidly that by the time you uncover one gem, he's spit five more. This is probably my favorite album ever.

Lupe Fiasco - The Cool - For me this is a slight notch below his debut, but a definite classic as well. Here Lupe's creativity and storytelling run a bit deeper than on his previous work as he really pushes boundaries. I love listening to his imagination run wild all over this album. It has some of my favorite songs by him ever. The only tracks I used to skip were "Gotta Eat" and "Go Baby", but the former is clever enough and the latter really grew on me. I can put either one of his 1st two CD's in and just let them ride.

Justin Timberlake - FutureSex/LoveSounds - This has been my summer album since it dropped. I love the production (props to Timberland), and it helps that I'm a huge Timberlake fan (I actually could probably listen to his first one all the way through too). I will shamelessly bump this in my car, sing along to even the slowest of love songs, and dance to corniness like SexyBack. This is just an awesome album all around.

John Mayer - Where The Light Is
Just an interesting blend of styles from one set to the next. Starts with nothing but an acoustic guitar, moves to his bluesy John Mayer Trio stuff, and finishes it up with a full band set. And there's not a weak song on the whole 2 disc set. And it has the best version of my favorite song in the world, "Gravity".

                The big one for me:

Jimmy Eat World - Clarity. Many people say this album, along with Weezer's Pinkerton, kinda set the stage for the much-derided "emo" sound of the 2000s to enter the mainstream, though this album sounds nothing like that connotation would imply. That notwithstanding it's a very introspective and heartfelt record, and no album as a whole that Jimmy Eat World has put out since, save maybe Futures, approaches it IMO. It goes in so many different directions sonically and thematically, yet somehow it all works. I give it my highest recommendation, for whatever that is worth.

The one album that comes to mind is...

Folie a Deux by Fallout Boy.

                      That album is so amazing.
Not a song under a 8/10 by me.
                      Incredible album.
