Damn, now what am I suppose to do between the hours of 1-3 pm. I do not want to have to start reading my romance novels earlier than normal...

First Oprah, now this. Dagger, I tell you.

My mom watched these as a kid...not so much nowadays, but she said she may tune in to see how they end.

I just remember All My Children as the one with Susan Lucci, the woman who took like 20 years to win a daytime Emmy while she was nominated every year.

        lol..yes..it took her a while.

My mother used to watch General Hospital. I can remember falling asleep in boredom to her watching that and then my father watching 60 minutes.

My wife was devastated when NBC cancelled Passions. I've never seen such absolute rubbish in all my life!

My sister used to watch that OMG! That was total trash. I can't believe it was so popular for a time. I heard that in the beginning the show was a bit more "normal" but then it added all these other supernatural elements etc etc.

I admit, I gave Passions a run when it first started.

I was in high school, the show was geared toward my age group and I figured, why the heck not?

Then it started having witches and magic and no amount of eye-candy could keep me tuned in.

My mother, like everyone's mother I guess, also loved All My Children. It was the only one she watched. But that hasn't been on in the YankeePride family household in nearly two decades.

Not gonna lie, when I was a kid during those sick days from school and during the summer when it was too hot to go outside I would watch a little of those stories. I remember Luke and Laura, Tad and Dixie, Trevor Dillon, I even remember Cruz & Eden from Santa Barbera...pretty much way too many characters and story lines that I should. I remember Sarah Michelle Gellar showing up as Erica Kane's daughter being a bitch.

I know my mom is hurting cuz even to this day she's gotta watch her stories. She still watches reruns from back in the day even. It's really hard to imagine those shows not being on the air.

I watched Guiding Light for years (every episode (VCRed) from 1982-till the very end of 1999), until the show deteriorated so bad I stopped watching for about exactly two years (2000 & 2001). It picked up again but continued to decline enough that I was a sporadic watcher from 2005 until it's end in the fall of 2009.

I watched every episode of the final two weeks, but despite some game efforts by some good actors the writing crippled the send off.

WOW! You can also add 'General Hospital' to the list if this is true.

Back in the early 90's I got hooked to 'One Life to Live' since my parents were watching it. But I stopped watched it around '97 or so.

Katie Couric and ABC television are on the verge of signing a $20 million deal, which would give Katie her own talk show, as well as significant involvement in ABC News — and the big casualty could be “General Hospital.”

Sources connected with ABC tell TMZ — under the deal that is in the final stages — Katie would do specials for ABC News, “20/20,” and do a significant amount of fill-in work — including anchoring.

ABC would also give Katie a 1-hour, 5-day-a-week syndicated talk show, that would begin in September, 2012. Our sources say … one option ABC is considering is giving its affiliates back the hour where “General Hospital” airs to make room for Katie. In other words, ABC would axethe third, longest-running soap in history and the last one standing on ABC.

ABC is also realistic, believing that one of it’s two new 2011 syndicated shows will fail, leaving room for K.C.

We’re told … when the dust settles and ABC’s daytime schedule gets rearranged, Katie would probably land in the 3 PM time slot.

BTW … we’re told Matt Lauer will NOT be part of Katie’s show.

As for the moola, our sources say the entire package for Katie and her partner, Jeff Zucker is a $20 million GUARANTEE for the syndicated show — and that’s just for the the first year. We’re also told Katie will get a “nominal amount” for her work in the news division.

Pretty much speculation, but it could happen.

Thankfully Young & The Restless seems to be on solid footing. It's the one soap my mother watches RELIGIOUSLY. She also watches Bold and the Beautiful but I don't think she'd flip if that show were to go away.

These soaps get a second life online. Wonder how the actor's salaries will be affected?

This is intriguing, while I don't watch these soaps I wonder if there'll be Geo-Locking when it comes to this (i'm assuming they'll be streamed) if so i'm sure some service in other countries will have to sign up and pay a fee to offer it online in their countries.
