I figured since the drioid tablet market is on blast off right now and getting bigger this week with the release of two new HoneyComb 3.0 tablets, I thought a thread like this would be great and much needed. IMO is I thnk Android is going great places this year with all there tablets.


Being a fan of the android Market for quite some time and owing and Ipad and loving that, I let my Ipad go over 2 months ago for the Xoom and I still love it the same as the first day I bought it.

I think HC is a great OS for the new tabs and for the Xoom, so I thought Us Android users who enjoy our gadgets could speak about the devices we own and keep ourselves informed on what to expect and just give general updates on what is to come this year with our Tablets. And Google updates


Love the xoom buy the way, and have been enjoing every minuter of it daily. Yes it lacks the apps at this point, but like I said with the new tablets being released this week and this year Google has to start making these Android Tablets worth now.


Also tone of the Tablets being release this week is the **** Transformer, and man this things looks sweet, with the keyboard add on looks like it will sell many just by that addition. I'm sticking with my Xoom thought just because I'm that much satisfied with it thus far.


Anyway, let The Android Tablet Mania begin.

I may get an Asus Transformer. That keyboard dock that closes like an actual laptop/netbook would be very beneficial.

I'm going to hold off a bit to see what Samsung's and Dell's new tablets are going to look like.

I also read this week that Intel will start making processors for Android tablets.

I may get an Asus Transformer. That keyboard dock that closes like an actual laptop/netbook would be very beneficial.

The Asus Transformer does look sweet, doubble the battery life, you get like 17 hours is pretty sweet too.

True, but the apps weren't there for Android phones when I bought my Droid.

Lo and behold the Android Market is going to pass the App Store sometime this summer.

Give it a few months and most of the apps that are truly worth something will be on Honey Comb.(ie not 10,000 different fart machines)

That being said, I totally understand not wanting to buy a tablet today and not have a good selection immediately.

It won't be passing the app store for tablet apps, the what you forgot, phone yess, not tablet apps. Android may never catch up in the tab app department.

It was down ~10:1 about year and a half ago in terms of phone apps.

Why wouldn't Android be able to catch up?

Its not just the count of the apps but the quality. There are some apps that Andoird does not have like The Daily.

I have not seen an Android tablet that has the type of "quality" experience I would expect.

Latest I've tried is the Acer Iconia A500.

Ugh - these things are clunky, unintuitive and frustrating to use. They should be easier to use than a desktop/laptop.

And web browsing - flash or not, is just a really bad experience. An Android phone is a better experience than these tablets.

Sums up my feelings. I am just starting to look into tablets and while I like he Ipads. I love my android phone. I was hoping that the Android tablets would be similar. I jumped into the tablet market by purchasing an Asus Transformer a few weeks ago, and I'm loving it. This is my first tablet, so I'm still getting used to where everything is and how things are supposed to operate. For the things that I need (which is to surf the web, play games, movies, and edit office documents), it has done everything that I've asked of it.

Thus far they are dissaponting. But I am in no rush so I am still hoping for one to blow me away or at the very least not leave me looking out the corner of my eye at the Ipads

As much as I love Google's services (i've owned a few android phones), iOS just provides such a better user experience. It's a million times more polished, easier to use and has many more tablet-optimized apps.

Really? I went from an iPad to a Motorola XOOM and thought the transition was as smooth as I could've expected. If you're familiar with the Android interface, jumping into Honeycomb should be a natural move. If it weren't for the fact that for whatever reason, my XOOM couldn't connect to my work's Wifi, I'd still have it. But...it didn't...making it basically worthless to me, so I returned it and bought an iPad 2.

Really TJ - these things are just - ugh. They feel unfinished. I can name numerous problems - heck installing the very first program resulted in "error processing purchase."

Complete random suggestion - get DolphinBrowserHD. Much better than the stock browser.

And I only have an iPad to compliment it - not the 2. The 2 which I bought my father is that much better (although I'm running iOS5).

Application crashes, what I would call a "glitchy" or "jerky" web browsing experience.... just not a pleasant experience at all. I chalked it up to the device until the 3rd unit... it has to be Android Tablet OS.
