I would agree, but I won't nitpick about it. One instance with a Black Widow shot, however, was part of a continuous shot that ended up showing all six Marvel heroes in sequence. When I realized what was going on, that shot made me nod a "Hell yea" and smile haha.

I agree, it's not a big issue at all, but it was really the only negative thing I can pick out from the movie. Everything else was solid. And yeah the continuous shot with all six of the heroes was amazing.

Looking forward to seeing it tonight. As an Avengers fanboy growing up in the 80's, I can't wait. I liked X-Men, Spider-Man etc, but this was always the movie I wanted to see on the big screen

Agreed. The Dark Knight is probably my favorite movie because of its dark/gritty nature. But not every single superhero movie needs to be that way, and I did not want The Avengers to be in that same dark style. I think the tone they used for this movie was perfect.

I actually liked this one better than The Dark Knight. TDK had some great dramatic moments, but I felt the action scenes were too many and not all that entertaining. I thought they could have cut a good 30-40 minutes out . Still a fan of the movie, but after watching it a few months later (completely sober) I put it behind Batman Begins among a few other super hero movies. Of course the ending (and line by commissioner Gordon) was one of the greatest in movie history-just too much clutter throughout the rest of the picture (IMHO).

But that's for another thread. To your point in another post about The Avengers starting slowly, I thought the SHIELD HQ battle and Scarlett Johansson were pretty darn entertaining. I never felt like the action bogged down, even when the main characters weren't onscreen.

Solid "A"-my favorite super hero movie easily.

I was expecting a scene where he would change into the Hulk and try to lift the Hammer a bunch of times after their first fight. I really hope that will happen sometime in another movie down the road.

Is the Hulk not supposed to be in the next Avengers movie? Thought I read something about that in this thread but, I forgot.

Are you kidding me? He'll be back and then some!!!

Just a fantastic shot. The special effects in this were top notch, but this scene epitomized the "teamwork" concept of the movie.

I think that's the first time I've ever seen anyone, ever, say that there were "too many action scenes" in The Dark Knight. Very interesting. There are more action scenes in the first "slow" half hour of this movie than I can remember in the entire Dark Knight. Maybe we have different definitions of "action scenes," though, which is totally possible.

Comparing it and this movie, aside from the massive hype for both and the fact that they are both comic/graphic novel/superhero stories and adaptations are crazy. Two totally different genres (comedic action movie and suspense thriller).

Both are incredible movies in their own right and fans of each canon should be incredibly pleased with how their stories have unfolded on the big screen.

I don't know if this counts, but when Hawkeye tells IM about how the Chitauri are poor at turning tight corners, he fires an arrow at an onslaught of them tailing IM closely on a bank, and IM turns around mid-air and takes care of the rest I believe. Again, not sure if that's the same kind of teamwork.

I also think Hulk and Thor take down one of the bigger baddies together. This was right before Hulk punches him offscreen hilariously. I don't know if they deployed any teamwork-like tactics to get it done though.

That IM/CA one gave me goosebumps!

I wasn't the one that thought it started slowly. Felt it started fine. I'm also not sure which 30-40 minutes you would cut out of TDK. I've seen that movie maybe 10 times now and don't think I'd be happy with anything getting taken out.

Yeah I really don't think comparing The Avengers and The Dark Knight is fair. They might both technically be "superhero" movies, but they're both completely different genres in reality. TDK feels like way more of a crime drama than an action/superhero movie.

The CA/IM team up was one of my favorite parts of the movie. I used to do that all the time in Ultimate Alliance 2, and thought it was damn cool they added that in the movie. Was pumped when I saw that.

Way to generalize forum posters as if something you said would go over our heads based on a simple thumbs up.

They are two very different movies, seemingly the only thing in common is that they both have super heroes as the central point. Talladegga Nights and The Fast and the Furious are both movies about racing but are completely different. ET and Alien are both centered around aliens but are vastly different movies.

Lets just say, for me imo the avengers is the best marvel movie even though some Xmen and Spiderman movies were pretty good. and tdk is the best dc movie. Although TDK is my favorite of all time, the Avengers should not compare bc its going to be about who you are and which heros you identify with and grew up loving.
