Finally got to see this yesterday and it was indeed awesome.

I wasn't sure about Ruffalo replacing Norton as Dr. Banner, and while I still prefer Norton, I thought Ruffalo was tolerable.

Robert Downey Jr. is just THE MAN. Totally owned every scene he was in. At times, it felt like Ironman 2.5, that's how commanding he was. He's perfect in this role.

Oh, and should mention that the movie definitely makes me want to go out and find the Marvel UA games.

Batman trailer before the movie was incredible. So hyped for that movie.

Robert Downey Jr is Tony Stark. I can't believe anyone ever questioned him in the role.

Ruffalo did an excellent job in replacing Norton imo. I didn't think he was going to work out as Banner/Hulk, but I was wrong. I did like that with the CGI you could still tell that there was a resemblance to Ruffalo's face as the Hulk.

Loved this rendition. And reminded me a bit of the early Buscema Hulk depiction:

Without question. You can say he was born for that role.

That and Two Girls and a Guy. He's amazing in that movie... because he's probably just being himself. Kinda like how his Stark and Sherlock Holmes characters are also egotistical infallible know-it-alls... just doing what comes naturally, lol.

I finally saw this last night. Hulk/Banner was awesome. His scene with Loki at the end was great. Even though I've heard him praised a lot, I didn't quite expect him to be stealing scenes from everybody. It was pretty good - definitely nailed down all the comic book atmospherics and dialogue without being campy or cheesy. I felt like this was the extreme opposite of the Batman films, but is needed (and welcomed) to give the super hero genre some depth as opposed to giving that white-wash of "realistic, gritty" to all super heroes.

I need to watch Iron Man 1 again to refresh my memory, but I think this is the best of the Marvel movies thus far. The character dynamics are a lot better (especially Thor and Loki) and the crafted, shared universe is amazing.

I'll admit prior to Iron Man releasing I had my doubts. Not all that different from wondering if Toby Maguire could pull off playing Peter Parker/Spiderman. If going strictly on how Tony Stark/Iron Man was portrayed in the comics during my time reading, I thought someone like George Clooney would've made a better Stark/IM combination. I didn't realize RDJ is as talented as he is. And for me he's actually managed to expand on what I always thought of the character as being. It's hard to imagine anyone bringing that snarky/arrogant but likable personality to the character the way Robert Downey Jr does.

The casting of all the characters deserves huge props imo. Ruffalo is an excellent choice for Banner. I always thought it'd be difficult to portray Thor as a character in a movie but Chris Hemsworth fits perfectly. I thought the Captain America uniform looked kinda silly on Chris Evans (compared to his own movie) but given his age he does a pretty good job at conveying an old soul/fish out of water in the movie imo. Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner are very good as Black Widow and Hawkeye. And they picked the perfect director in Whedon to bring it all together.

I agree that it's up there as being one of the best Marvel movies, kind of tied with Iron Man 1 imo.

On another note, I watched Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance 2 days ago on Blu and can't believe how the Marvel Knights films just continue to feel so B-movie like. The original Ghost Rider was enjoyable, but the camera work was a bit too much in this new film. Daredevil, Ghost Rider, Punisher, and Fantastic Four are in serious need of make overs if they will continue these franchises. I liked the original Punisher with Thomas Jane, but the second one was kind of meh.

The first Punisher was okay. It was fun, but not what I was really looking to get out of a Punisher film. I'm not sure why its so hard to get Frank Castle right on screen. They don't even have to do an origin story. Obviously its going to be rated R so just take the Ennis run and use that as a basis.

If you're talking about the second Punisher movie, I'd agree also. Was much more in line with the comics; movie was much voilent than I expected it to be. Not sure of the actor's name that played Castle but thought he was really good. I'm surprised Punisher fans don't like it more
