if you include the case and cover art I'd say $18-20.... Just the disc---probably $15

Note: price is up to $29 now

After some talk as to whether Joss Whedon would get behind the lens for The Avengers sequel, it has been confirmed that he will certainly be back for the film that is slated for release in 2016. But that’s not the only big news: Whedon has also signed on for an as-yet-untitled Marvel TV series. Marvel said in a statement to IGN Tuesday.

“Joss Whedon has signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios for film and television through the end of June 2015. As part of that deal, Whedon will write and direct Marvel’s ‘Avengers 2′ as well as help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC. He will also contribute creatively to the next phase of Marvel’s cinematic universe.”

I wouldn't hail Whedon as some new creative visionary or anything, but he certainly didn't do any wrong either. Consistency and assurance is always a good thing.

Well not simply based on Avengers, no. Being responsible for things like Buffy, Dollhouse, Firefly, and Cabin in the Woods (amongst others), I'd say that while he is certainly consistent, he also has a knack for approaching the same tropes from different angles resulting in a lot of things that are fresh and seemingly original.

I think he did well enough on Avengers. He stayed true to the characters and I thought Black Widow and the Hulk were the two best written characters in the film. The overall story was forgettable and comic-booky fare, but hopefully he can go a little bit "out of the box" with the second one.

Didn't he do Dark Angel, too? The guy has an incredible resume and deserves most of the praise he's received. Plus, he did a damn good job on Avengers so it's incredibly exciting to know he'll do #2 as well.

Yup. He's also got a ton of writing experience though a lot of it seems to be uncredited.

I think it's a good move to keep Wheden around as the creative visionary behind this series of films. He's actually one of the very few directors around who is a legit creative force in that he does a lot of his own writing and usually has a well thought out plan for what he's doing.

I thought he was true to the characters in the first movie though he really laid it on thick with the a-hole side of Tony Stark/Iron Man's character a bit too much for my liking.

BTW i'm interested to see what kind of project for Marvel that he's developing for TV. I don't think this is that Hulk show that's been bandied about recently.

I think they're pushing something that is tied to the universe/Avengers. As for Hulk, del Toro is still pushing that I believe.

The best thing I can say for Wheden is that he wrote every character almost perfectly and didn't try to range too far from the norm.

Great to hear. Can't wait for Avengers 2.

Can't wait to see what the T.V., stuff is. Now because of the cachet Avengers has given him, I bet the studio leaves him alone to tell the story he wants, unlike with Dollhouse and Firefly.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

$40.52. Gotta start rethinking that 3D price!

I preordered the whole thing last night at Amazon for $29. DVD, BR, BR 3D and soundtrack. Only $5 more than the BR/DVD version so why not...

The original preorder price of $23 for the 4 disc was a steal.

I still wouldn't pay more than $15 for just the 3D disc (in a blu ray case with no cover art) though.
