Sometimes I feel like I was born too early.....

with regards to technology. Being 40 it feels like such an amazing time in technology and can only imagine what the future holds. I know it's been said before but it's so worth reiterating. Some can complain about socks, width of stripes etc. and I am saying to myself, you have no idea were technology has come from... Damn favorite game back in the day on the Commodore 64 was Bird vs. Dr. J. Of course the Dr. was my favorite but I digress.... Sorry guess just had to say this and say again you young folk have no idea how lucky you are as far as technology in gaming!!!

At least you got to experience this country when it was truly in its glory. This country is not even close to what it was 30 years ago.

Thinking about the dollar right now...

Count me amongst those who had to fashion their early sports gaming experiences out of trading cards, dice and a vivid imagination...

As much as I appreciate today's tech / games, I'm still happy I grew up in a simpler time...

Gives some perspective to what they offer, as opposed to what they lack...

and people 30 years ago said it was better 30 years ago. Hindsight is always better.

The tech might be better but I would much rather grow up the time I did in the 70's and 80's and it's not selective memory. Yeah you have lots of video games but when I was 10 years old we had complete freedom and didn't have controlling and paranoid parents planning everything you had to do like you were in the army.

Growing up in Toronto we played road hockey for 3 hours after school every day and there was no frantic parents calling the cops because we never came home from school. As long as you made it home for dinner. We had 90 minutes for lunch from school and everybody went home for it and most had both parents working so you had the house to yourself.

On weekends and summer holidays you went out all day with your buddies on your bikes or playing pick up game of all sports. You drank water off the tap, no cell phones to carry around and having to report in every hour or sunscreen plastered all over your body. We used to take the subway and walk around downtown at 12 years old with our friends. These days everybody stays inside the house playing video games all day and only go out to whatever extracirrucular activity thier parents signed them up for. If they go down the block they better not leave thier parents sight. No thanx, it's like a prison. Growing up then made us so much more mature because we were on our own so much and made us responsible young adults because we were street smart. Todays 20 year olds can text like a pro but half of them don't even know how to write a check or are hopelessly lost if they drive more than 5 miles away from thier house.

In the 80's being a teenager was great because the music was fantastic (new wave rocked) especially for nightclubs and the girls dressed in slutty skirts. When fights broke out it was mano a mano, no worrying that someone was gonna pull out a gun, at least not in Toronto. Gas and insurance were cheap so you could buy yourself a nice sporty car at 18.

Younger people now may have all the tech toys and gaming systems but it also made them socially ********.

I'm thinking about how the last thing a demand-depressed economy needs is a strong dollar.

Ahhh, so many good memories from that game. I spent many hours playing that and Microleague Baseball.

I agree with the OP in terms of technology. But, I am happy to see how far things have come since the 80's. These whipper-snappers today have no idea how good they have it.

I cringe at the thought of that lol.

And I'm in that category except I can write a check and I;m not to shabby at directions. I'm 20 years old about to turn 21 in July and I as good as that sounds(the simple life) I guess I I'm glad I was born in the 90's with technology being the way it is now. I'm apart of this new age generation for the most part(music is mostly horrible) but, I remember the 2-D video games as a child.

I really wonder what I'll be saying about games 20 years from now.

If you look at what we already have now they better have some virtual reality type **** or I'm going to be pissed when I get there at 40 but, I guess that is probably what you were thinking as well when you were 20 lol or was that not even a thought at the time with graphics like the Dr. J vs Bird screen shot?-Question to the OP.

Same here. Was born in 87. Young enough when you played outside and stuff but I also grew up in the technology age. Best of both worlds.
